    642 vs. 637 opinions needed.

I pocket carry the 642 and can't imagine having (or needing) a hammer. My $.02. Regards, Russell

    K frame .357 magnum's

Thanks to all of you that took the time to reply. I've got the picture. As soon as I can clear some room in my garage, I hope to start reloading, which sounds like the answer for .357 magnums for k frames. Regards, Russell

    K frame .357 magnum's

Thinking of picking up a K frame .357 magnum. I've heard the K frame .357 magnums shouldn't be fed a steady diet of "hot" .357 loads. Is this true, and, if so, what .357 loads will they tolerate on a "steady diet" basis? Thanks for your input. Russell

Lead roundnose v. Lead semiwadcutter for range ammo

Thanks for the input. Sounds like a toss-up, at best. I really appreciate your time and thoughts. Regards, Russell

Lead roundnose v. Lead semiwadcutter for range ammo

I was looking at acquiring some range ammo, and Georgia Arms has .38 special lead roundnose and lead semiwadcutter, both in 158 gr., for about the same price. I've never understood what bullet type is best for what particular purpose. As to these two, any real difference for use as...

    642 fixed-sight question

I have a 642. I understand that the fixed sights on it are "set" to place a certain type of bullet dead center in the target at a certain distance. Can you tell me what round and what distance? (Trying to search for this info didn't yield an answer). Thanks for your help. Russell

New guy question re: type of press for beginner

Thanks again Thanks again to everyone for sharing your thoughts and experiences. I've received the Speer and Lyman reloading manuals and am plodding through them. I'll probably have more questions then. Regards to all, Russell

New guy question re: type of press for beginner

Thanks for the input Thanks to all of you for taking the time to send your ideas. Lots of good info to think about. The most important "take away" seems to be to concentrate on getting the charge right regardless of what type press/die is used. I'm going to order a couple of reloading...

New guy question re: type of press for beginner

Began shooting handguns three years ago and currently own S&W 686 and 642. Do not currently own any centerfire rifles, and don't have much interest in acquiring them. I'd like to start reloading and have been doing a considerable amount of reading here and on other sites. I think I...

    Backpacking/Camping...Revolver advice

Among the choices you mention, I'd go with the 640. I'd also look at an SP101 or a 686 w/ the two and a half in. barrel if you're really going to load .357's.
