    29–2 …. $5k!!!!!

Yeah. I'd say the chances of a non-paying bidder are pretty much certain.

    Skeeter Skelton's 44 special load

If shooting in a 44 magnum, changing only the brass (44 magnum brass versus 44 special brass) makes an insignificant difference in velocity for your handloads. About 20 fps. 9.0 grains UNIQUE with a 240 grain bullet gets me in the high 900's for velocity out of a 4" gun. Much whompum in that load.

I might still have to get a new 29 with the lock..

Because SPEND MORE MONEY, I have a nice thumb-break paddle holster inbound. I’ll be the heaviest toter at the Taco Bell. Might have to wear my real Mexican poncho to conceal these hogs. I’m not familiar with this brand. But the website showed it in-stock, and I’ve got a tracking number. The...

Meanwhile, I put a few rounds today through the chromed 29-3. Another “shooter.” A previous owner chromed it after it suffered some serious neglect sometime in the past. You can see where pitting formed und what was probably one of those squishy Hogue rubber grips. The chrome job is pretty...

I sanded down the overlap to match the profile of my frame. I wish I’d snapped a picture of the freshly sanded for comparison. Here with two coats of “Tung Oil Finish” (not real tung oil).

These look like they once were equipped with a Tyler device. Notice the indentation. I had a Tyler device previously on a different gun. It didn’t suit me at all. But I realize many shooters especially like the device. It’s not for me.

I might still have to get a new 29 with the lock..

The eBay ad listed a suffix of “P-34” on the description. Maybe this nomenclature explains why the grips I bought are slightly oversized. Is anyone familiar with “P-34” that might explain the size problem? I don’t mind whittling-to-fit the set I got. But maybe I shouldn’t “ruin” a rare item...

My plinkin’ load is 9.1 grains Winchester WSF (Winchester Super Field) and a jacketed 240. Probably about 950-ish velocity.

I picked it up from my FFL. Made up an excuse about picking up blood pressure medication. Which isn’t completely untrue considering the beneficial effects of this sort of thing. I installed the eBay magna’s. Not a clean fit unless I WECSOG ‘em a bit.

I might still have to get a new 29 with the lock..

… but in the meantime, I’m picking up this dash-2 today (If I can find a clever excuse to sneak out of the house past my wife. Its raining today, so the “car wash” excuse is untenable.) The PACHMYR grips are my absolute favorite for actually FIRING any revolver. But for nostalgia sake, I...

Model 29 "Classic" - sleeve or shroud barrel?

I can't seem to get a clear answer on this. One youtube "reviewer" even talks about his new gun, and about how he doesn't mind the sleeved barrel, and while displaying the muzzle that to me looks like IT IS NOT SLEEVED. The picture on the Smith and Wesson website looks like it is NOT SLEEVED...

    29-3 in stainless?

I just acquired a 29-3 in what genuinely appears to be stainless. Anyone else ever encounter a stainless 29-3? It has some light pitting on one side of the frame where I guess something caustic found its way under the squishy HOGUE grip. Pic shows some residual rubber-schmootz on the pitting...

swap cylinder on model 442 (install 642 cylinder?)

I am trying to swap the cylinder on my Model 442 with the cylinder from a Model 642. Why?... Because I want to for the heck of it. And because I am thinking about having the 642 cylinder cut for moon-clips so I can have the option to shoot the 442 with 38's with the original cylinder, or with...
