    Restored, Grandpa’s Rusty S&W Model 39-2. You won’t believe it….

That came out really nice! I love to see old guns restored. Enjoy.

Found a nice 35-1 Date help? Light strikes solved!

I ended up keeping the 12lb spring in place. Partly because it doesn’t affect the SA trigger pull and partly because I also now also shoot 22 WMR through it, and those definitely need the heavier firing pin impact. I stumbled across a M35 parts gun (no frame) and reamed that cylinder to WMR...

    34-1 22LR doesn't always fire?

I had the same light strike issue on a Model 35 (6” Mod 34). A heavier mainspring finally solved it. The original spring is rated at 8.5lbs and even a new one didn’t help, nor did the Wolfe springs. A 12lb spring did the job! The model 351C / 351PD uses a 12lb spring (red color). Midwest Gun...

    J-Frame +Power spring...

The model 351C / 351PD uses a 12lb spring (red color). Midwest Gun Works has them in stock. This spring solved the same issue in my Mod 35.

22 LR to 22 Mag K Frame rechamber

It will work fine - especially since the cylinder is already fitted to the frame. I reamed a 22LR Model 18 cylinder to 22 Mag to fit my Model 17. The most difficult part was fitting the cylinder to the frame. Works great now and is very accurate.

    Advice, M17 & M18-4

Keeping them both is definitely the correct answer! My son is now old enough to shoot with me and we both enjoy the time together very much. One unexpected consequence is that we now need TWO of each gun!

    6" Model 41

Yep, looks just like my 7 inch (note: not the older 7 3/8).

    Warped Cokes...Suggestions?

Hmmm . . . Isn’t nickel added to steel to make it stainless? I wouldn’t think wet grips would hurt nickel plate if you chose to go that route.

I WAS GONNA SELL IT, BUT THEN SHOT IT AGAIN TODAY - 1ST TIME IN 12 YEARS - NOW WHAT?

I have regretted most guns that I’ve sold and even bought a few back when I really started missing them. I made a decision a few years back to never sell another one! I don’t need to, so why should I? Fortunately, I have a son who shoots with me and will treasure them one day.

My 22 LR / WMR Converter Collection

Ever since acquiring a Ruger Single Six, I’ve kinda liked revolvers that can convert back and forth between 22 LR and 22 WMR. So as the opportunities presented themselves, I purchased spare cylinders and made all my 22 revolvers into convertibles. I started with the Bearcat, picking up a...

    S&W Model 35 WMR Project

A Ruger Shopkeeper Bearcat was my first conversion project! In WMR mode it is now two-tone as my second cylinder is blue. Shoots great.

    S&W Model 35 WMR Project

Test session at the range today. Functioning was perfect with easy extraction from the now polished chambers. POI is unchanged from the 22LR cylinder so that is a nice bonus. I’m very happy with the final result.

    S&W Model 35 WMR Project

I finally made it to the range over the weekend. Basic function was pretty good - some very slight rubbing of fired cases and surprisingly stiff extraction. Quick, off-hand accuracy was good as well. I'm sure it will be very good off a rest. So, back to the shop for a little deeper reaming...

    S&W Model 35 WMR Project

I am aware of the barrel diameter differences. WMR generally tends to be quite accurate through an LR bore. A previous revolver I converted worked out very well with no forcing cone work. It will be interesting to see if POA shifts between the calibers - I hope not!

    S&W Model 35 WMR Project

Ah, the ol redneck action job. Coat the entire action with toothpaste and dry fire a bunch. Supposed to really smooth it out. Probably works well enough to polish metal but in this case I think more reshaping is required. However the replacement hand is working great.
