    Black Talon Gifts

Since posting I've found that one batch is, in fact, pre-BT WCC 115 JHP +P+, the other is the Ranger 127 +P+ first offered to LE after Winchester stopped civilian sales. I'll hang onto the Rangers, the others'll make range fodder.

Never mind - the numerals are date codes, so only the black Lubaloys are BTs. The others are not in the original box after all.

i was given 2 partial boxes of 9mm +P+ by a retired LEO. I'm not gonna shoot 'em but I'm curious about the history. I've read there have been 5 iterations, to the current PDX1. One batch (not in the original box) has brass case, black Lubaloy coating, rounded serrations, heavy red primer...

No prob, Mike - I figured that.

    257 Roberts brass

Same boat? I no longer need the brass or bullets, so trying to pass 'em along to a fellow shooter at a good price.

    If you've chrono'd 124gr Gold Dots in your 9c...

Other bullets or other guns aren't any help 'cause I'd like to know what velocity either factory rounds or your reloads give in the 9c barrel. Thanks.

    M&P 9c and "Sticky Nose" Lee 358-125-RF

Thanks Ed, Tom. Now that I know proper OAL with this bullet I'll redo my work-up.

    M&P 9c and "Sticky Nose" Lee 358-125-RF

More research, head scratching and checking and seems it's just dumb*ssitude on my part. Another hour at the bench and now all's well. Turns out my barrel will accept 1.065" OAL with this bullet, I just wasn't fully removing the bell which along with variations in the brass added up to too much...

    M&P 9c and "Sticky Nose" Lee 358-125-RF

I have a chronograph but I'd rather avoid a stuck bullet. I've read in other threads (maybe not on S&W) of 9mm short throats necessitating 1.000"ish loads.

    M&P 9c and "Sticky Nose" Lee 358-125-RF

Well yes, but how much? My bullets actually run 131 gr, I'm loading 4.3 gr @ 1.095" and the load data I have shows 4.4 gr BE starting load for a 125 gr with an OAL of 1.150".

    M&P 9c and "Sticky Nose" Lee 358-125-RF

I get great accuracy, sized .357" over 4.3 gr Bullseye and 1.095" OAL. Problem is the nose sticks in the rifling, with an occasional FTC. A tap on the slide rear takes care of it though. It will take an OAL of ~1.000" to chamber freely and I can't find a starting load for that short a loading. I...
