I have that same gun and I had a hard time finding a holster. Finally ended up with a holster from "Chief's Holster's" on Etsy. OWB, strap over the hammer, non-fluted cylinder. Good value for the $$. Custom hand made concealed carry holsters. by ChiefsHolsters

Yeah you can remove the rubber and install wood. Do some research on round vs square butt to be sure that you get the right grip. Personally, I went from wood to rubber just for comfort and better fit on my 686. On my 586 I stayed with the OEM wood.

My 15-22 runs all ammo so far.

Hey Guys! I just purchased a 686+ 3-5-7 with a 5” barrel. This is a Talo model with the unfluted cylinder. Anyone have recommendations on a holster to fit this?? Looks like few options from what I can see online. Thanks in advance. Winch

Anything that is on sale and plated. I played lead makes a mess of my blued 586.

I’ve still got my original from 1978. Plus I picked up the 50th anniversary one. It’s a classic.

My wife has the 686 6" and it is the best shooting handgun in our collection.

Agree on the 5".....that's gonna be my next one, but in .357.

I bought a new 586 and I'm very happy with it. I don't understand the hate for new S&W....they have a lifetime warranty so you're covered in case anything breaks.

The 617 is a perfect mate for the 686. I like mine (10 shot).

19 is on my buy list but I recently bought a 586 so later on.
