Looking for a .38 special target round recommendation

I want to buy a case of ammo for new classic 19 revolver for indoor range shooting. Recommendations? I see cheap FMJ 130gr and 158gr. Lead semi-wad cutter probably makes nicer holes, but I'm concerned about cleaning afterwards. Is it an issue? Full wad-cutter actually cost more than the FMJ's.

New 19 classic (no lock) cylinder hard to open?

Boo, thanks for the info. I'll at least take it to the range and test fire it before figuring out if it needs to go back.

New 19 classic (no lock) cylinder hard to open?

I just bought a new model 19 classic no lock. Beautiful gun. The cylinder seems very hard to open vs my other many S&W's. Is this due to the new "triple lock up" ball detent? I have to push pretty hard to get it to pop open.

    3" J-frame holster (60/63)?

Yeah that little cheap nylon jobber will get the done for some range time. I was looking at Bianchi(nicer quality) but they only have 2" J-frame ones.

    3" J-frame holster (60/63)?

Anyone find a holster for a 3" 63? I've been teaching my son how to shoot and he loves the 63. But at our local steel range, it helps to have a holster to stuff it in, otherwise it needs to lay on the ground if backing away from the firing line while others are shooting. (no handling of...

NEW 629 and 686 NO LOCK MOUNTAIN GUNS ANNOUNCED!

I emailed Lipseys and their reply was the 686 will ship in "March".

    Help me pick a .357

I just "discovered" the Talo edition 686 plus 3-5-7. Now I'm wondering about one of those vs the new mountain 686 that's coming out. Within 2 ounces of each other. The 3" full lug barrel won't have the same sight radius, but will fit in a shorter holster than the 4" mountain. I love the...

    Help me pick a .357

I'm going to wait for that 4" mountain gun to come out. In the meantime, I ordered a model 63, because... who doesn't need another .22? I plan to teach my kids how to shoot on it. My 6" 617 is just too heavy for a small person to hold up for a period of time.

    Help me pick a .357

I'm still all over the place in my thinking. This .357 will be just a range gun. I already have a 5" 629 so that's why I'm thinking I don't need another huge N frame. I really like the idea of the new classic 19 no lock. Something about the k frame just feels so nice to me. I'll mostly shoot...

    Help me pick a .357

Oh wow that looks awesome. I always thought the full underlugs looked better (686), but in time, I appreciate the lighter half lugs. That just might be winner. No lock either! EDIT- Seems unavailable... maybe it's not out yet? Looks like a 2025 SHOT show release.

    Help me pick a .357

Yeah sorry- I missed a word. I don't want another N. I think a small frame .357 would be best. I will mostly shoot either .38, or start reloading lighter .357's.

    Help me pick a .357

I want a .357 for range duty. I have a family heirloom 1977 19-4 which I love. But I let my mother shoot it and it's now her self protection firearm. Yes she "borrowed" it from her nearly 50 year old son. I already have a 5" 629 .44. I don't want another giant N frame. So a K or L is in my...

Thinking about Model 617 w/6" BBL

617 was my family's first firearm in 1990 when my dad bought one. I've been shooting it ever since. It's a tack driver, zero recoil, but it is heavy. I think too heavy for a new/beginning shooter. But after shooting big bore stuff, it's nice to take a break and shoot some .22's without recoil...

    629 cylinder release jammed up

I'll have to pick up a set of picks like you mentioned. I used Mpro-7. Quite a bit of it actually. Coated every part with a thin layer using fingers, then a little drop on every pin and rubbing point. Once of these days I should check my other revolvers. I also took advantage of having it...

    629 cylinder release jammed up

All fixed. Thanks to this guy's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlyXs7QCu88 Whatever lube was in there from S&W 15 years ago dried to hard tar like substance. Some had to be scraped off. Brass wire brush, lots of cleaning, and new gun oil. It's working like a champ. My prying with...
