There was a B-36 which had a nuclear reactor aboard, but it was only for airborne tests. it did not actually power the aircraft. The cockpit was heavily modified and shielded, it's said it was about as quiet as a glider.

I'm going to disagree on the .45 being too much. It's a big bore, yes, but relatively low muzzle velocity. And on the heavier side as well. I know quite a few young ladies that have taken to it quite readily (and at least one who now EDC's one).
