Default Hello from Czech Republic

Hi,

Iīm new in here. I live in Czech Republic, small country right in the middle of Europe. Unlike most european countries, we in Czech Republic can still own and carry almost whatever we want (we have to have a license for it...) and there are still some people, who excercise those rights.

Iīm a happy owner of Smith and Wesson Model 10-10, 4" in .38 Special. I bought it as a cheap addition to my main carry gun (Remington 1911R1). This Smith was surprisingly cheap... But I was astonished by the quality of the gun. All was tight as it was build yesterday, only there was slight wear on the bluing, as the gun was carried a lot. Itīs very fun to shoot it, grip and balance is fine, recoil is very soft... Even my girlfriend is shooting it with no problems at all...

I do have 4" 629-4 also, but there are some issues to be solved (timing, cylinder play...).. Looking forward to a day when itīs done :-)

Some pictures of my country:

Welcome. Your country seems to have a rich history in firearms manufacturing and still makes great products to this day. I like the foreign competition since it keeps our stateside companies on their toes to still remain innovative. You posted some great pictures. Come to think of it, I think my favorite bullet casting molds are hand made by a guy in your country. Welcome to the forum and be prepared to burn up a lot of your time absorbing some of the info posted here.

Maximumbob54: Thanks :-) A lot of people does stuff like casting molds themselves - relict of communism - nothing was aviable in shops, so you have to do everything yourself. Sometimes itīs good, sometimes itīs not... For example almost every gun owner thinks, that he doesnīt need gunsmith - thats the way how timing got messed up on my M 629 - someone doing amateur trigger job

This guy makes some quality stuff. I have several of his bullet molds and more on a wish list. I bet if you take some detailed pictures of your 629's issues there are some real brains here that could point you in the right direction.

Well, Iīm gonna take my 629 to gunsmith on thursday... He is working (and even building) mainly on hunting rifles and shotguns, but heīs pretty good, so I think he can sort it out. You can check his work HERE . His conversion of Mosin Nagant M38 to a hunting rifle is just stunning! Iīve tunable trigger on my Mosin M44 from him, and itīs just stunning...

We have quite a good acces to firing ranges, a lot of indoor pistol/rimfire/shotgun ranges...

Only problem Iīm having is range for "big" rifle ... But in town when I go to university, there is a 300 metres long rifle range without limit on caliber you use.

Around town where I live there are (one 25km and the other one around 50km) two 50 metres rifle ranges, which allows to shoot something bigger than rimfire rifle...

S. Hammer,
Welcome to the forum from Northeast Ohio. Your country also has some absolutely beautiful ladies too. I'm on the hunt for an older S&W Model 29 blued 44 Magnum 6" or 6 1/2" myself, just because I don't have one.
Boys must have their Toys you know.
Congratulations to you also for having your girlfriend become involved in the shooting sports.

And another greeting from North Carolina!

I'm the proud owner of a VZ24 Czech made Mauser rifle and a CZ-82. Both reflect the fine craftsmanship from your nation.

Your gunsmith seems pretty experienced and well equipped. You're sure to get back a beautiful revolver!
