Post hello to all......

newbie here to your forum.....question for any interested. one of my shirttail relatives recently had me look at an old S&W revolver that has been handed down to him with some questions and being the family firearm nut, i of course offered to see what i could find for him.....>38 spcl snub nose revolver, serial #V543XXX with the front half of the triggerguard absent, and S&W 38spc ctg? stamped on the barrel. his grandfather apparently owned the gun until passing away in 1937 ,when an uncle inherited the pistol. subsequently he received the pistol from his uncle who in turn passed away in the early 70's. rumor has is that "grandpa" was a detective for the san francisco pd in the early 1900s to possibly 1920s. mostly looking for manufacture year and possible info to pass along. thank you in advance....

Welcome from Texas buglechaser1. Great forum for all things S&W, have fun, learn lots, share what you know.

Wow, great story. Sounds like you have a S&W revovler that has been "Fitz'ed". This was a popular modification to revolvers back in the day where the front of the trigger guard was removed as it was thought to speed the ability to pull the trigger faster in a gunfight.

Photo's would be needed to confirm or disprove this.

Sounds like a cool gun and with a family history makes it even cooler.
