Default Hello from SC

I've lurked here periodically for a while, mostly researching my last couple S&W acquisitions. I'm retired and married and all the kids have flown the coop. My interests are guns, motorcycles, guitars and music.

My first pistol, bought new back in the early 70's, was a S&W model 36-1. From day one that J frame was a sweet shooter and the more I shoot it, the sweeter the trigger gets. It is the weapon with which I took my qualifications when I first got my CWP back in 96 and my first carry piece. While I did not think my shooting at the CWP qualification was anything special, several other folks using autos on the firing line that day commented on how well I scored "for someone using a revolver".

Through the years my carry arm evolved through a succession of two Glocks, a Steyr and a Colt 1911, but I recently acquired a S&W 642 NL, which is my current carry favorite. It seems I have come full circle back to that beloved J frame. (My wife also picked herself up a 1954 model Chief Special, too, so we are now a three J frame family now.)

I never really appreciated Smith autos until I recently picked up a LE trade-in model 5906. Although heavier than the poly framed autos that have taken over the market, this pistol is an absolute pleasure to shoot and a keeper.

Anyhow, hello folks and it looks like S&W has found a permanent place in my heart and my collection.
