Default A minor introduction...

As a little background, I'm a former USMC O3 and a retired LEO. My wife and I spend a great deal of time traveling in our truck camper, and prefer dispersed camping out in the boondocks, preferably mountain country. Having experience with large bore handguns, I was looking for something suitable to carry in the field, for all purposes. We don't hike long distances, so I wasn't concerned with weight, and I decided I liked the flexibility of the S&W 460V. Had been keeping an eye out for one for over a year, and today I came across what I was looking for, with some nice discounts. I decided it was fate. While I carried a duty .357 in the 80's, and enjoyed the .44 magnum cartridge as well, I haven't fired a large bore in some time, so tomorrow it's the range with a box of .45 Colts and maybe some .454s, to get reacclimated. Seems to be a lot of good info here, and I'm looking forward to getting acquainted with people.

Thank you all for the welcomes. I've been perusing the threads and already learned a great deal.

Now to start researching holsters, ammunition, and internal lock replacements. I didn't even know revolvers HAD internal locks *grin*.

Appreciate seeing where everyone's from. Our home base is in Ohio; we're sitting here now waiting for April so we can hit the road again. Got a few necessary things to take care - taxes of various sorts, renewing ID for carrying, doctor visits - and we try to take care of everything at once.
