New from Seattle Area
Hello. New guy from Seattle, Wa. I decided to join the forum because I have purchased my 2nd S&W pistol today and wanted to learn more about them. I have owned many pistols over the years, but not one of them fit really great. A few years back, I found a model 59 at a local pawn shop. I think it was $350 or so. I bought it on a whim...
When I took it to the range, I couldn't believe how accurate I was with it! The old school Pachmayr grip, the lack of recoil (due to the sheer weight probably) and the nice lines to it! I knew it was going to be my favorite from that moment.
Fast forward to today, I was at the same pawn store with a few bucks burning a hole in my pocket.lol I spotted what I thought was another model 59. This one was actually a model 539. It's about 95% condition and came with one factory mag. I paid $359+tax for it. Although it doesn't have the capacity of the 59, it sure feels about the same in my hand! Just can't wait to get out and put some lead down range...
That's my story and I'm sticking to it

Wow! Lots of friendly folks here. Thanks for the warm welcome. I stripped the 39 and found more fouling than I care to admit to. Took me a long time to get all the gunk out of it! Makes me want to meet the previous owner and give him a high five (to the forehead!)
