Hey guys,
New to the SW forums and first time firearm owner. A few weeks ago I picked up a MOE mp15-22. Needless to say absolutely love it. Only one FFT in over 1000 rounds. I'll try to post some pics soon.

Anyways, I was thinking of adding a eotech soon, I kinda like the older "longer" style more than the new XPS series, but I'm open to both versions. Down the line I want to add a magnifier, either 3x or 4x. I am not interested in night vision. Is there a specific model Eotech you would recommend with this in mind. Do I need the buttons on the side? What about the BDC with two 1 MOA dots? Thanks
Drew

Drew, I would recommend the 512. It has a 65MOA ring with a 1MOA dot. Plus it has the long look that you like. They are just a little over $400.EOTech discontinued their 4x magnifier. I highly recommend the EOTech G23.FTS 3x magnifier. I love mine. It has a QD flip to side mount & comes with a 7mm riser if needed. I can operate the buttons on the rear of my 553 with the magnifier in place but it is easier with it flipped to the side. Here is my set up. In the pic looking thru the magnifier, I had the brighness turned way up for the picture. That's why the ring looks so thick & blurry.

Impressive! Also looks like another case of the goodies costing more than the rifle!

damn, you guys are great. what do you think of the 557 with the BDC (this has four 1 MOA dots for ranging) giving that I plan to use it with a magnifier at some point. Thanks

Most of my guns from my hunting rifles, to sniper rifles, to AR's, have at least as many $'s hanging on them as the basic rifle cost. IMHO there it makes no sense to put a $50 scope on a $500 rifle.

HalfSwiss, you hit the nail dead on the head !! LOL!!! I use the excuse that everything that I buy, I can use on my M&P 15T.

hey i sent you a message with the name of the aluminum black company on it and by the way the flash hider does look nasty on your rifle... the 15t needs one to

Got the message & yes the 15T will be getting one of Luke's compensators. Putting one on my 15-22 change the whole look of the rifle. :)

What do you all think of the 516/517 (I prefer the 516 b/c of the 123 batts) with the integrated 7mm riser? I have the MOE edition with flip up BUIS. I like the side buttons as I plan on getting a magnifier at some point.

Is a riser necessary?
Do I only need a riser if I want to co-witness?
I've seen some of the risers made for the Eotech and really like the QD LaRue product, I'm guessing if I get the 516 I can't really add a QD mount, correct?

Sorry I'm new to all this, and got that "gotta upgrade" burning sensation again :)

Edit: Topsportsman, are you using a riser? (it doesnt look like it from the pics) THANKS!

I have the 557 on my 15T. The rifle is great and is a better shooter than I am. The 3x magnifier works well, too.

A couple of things: the ranging dots are not going to help you much for a .22 and the dots are darned hard to see w/out the magnifier.

Yes, the buttons on the side are worth the effort.

I had to use the 7mm supplied riser because the 553 has a 7mm riser built into the ARMS mount. I would efinitely go with a LaRue QD mount on any of the other models. I am addicted to the QD mounts.
