Western Boots Recommendations?

Nocona. Once upon a time I was the chaplain of a Fire Dept. Once annually the put on a rodeo. Since I did the invocation, I was expected to dress appropriately. So... I got myself a big black Resistol hat and a nice pair of black cowhide Nocona boots. That was about 1985. Those boots are still going strong... and I don't know how many soles and heels they've had. I wear them to church, etc. Very comfortable.

Redwings for work, Tony's for town. (Wife gave me a pair of ostrich Tony's for most recent birthday - she must really love me) ;)

Western boots

If you have the money to spend, Leddy's in Ft Worth still makes a nice custom fitted boot. Lucchese classics are still handmade and high quality but have gotten quite pricey lately.

A relatively new company on the national scene is Black Jack. Their boots look for all the world like Lucchese knockoffs for about half the price and for what I have seen their quality is high. And if you special order them the options are free where Lucchese charges for the same changes.

Good luck

For daily wear, I love Tony Lama.

For dress to impress wear, I wear Dan Post in their exotic skins other than snake.

Either way, they will have pointed toes.

I bought my very first pair of tennis shoes last year. Wore them once. Been wearing western boots since I was five years old.

These are my custom made Cognac Ostrich boots I had made by Luskey's/Ryon's in Fort Worth. Very comfortable, and the cost was reasonable. Under a grand three years ago. I always wanted a pair of Ostrich Boots.

Outstanding! Nice boots.

Not surprised by the cost. My original target was to stay under $250 since that's what I paid for the Boulet's about 15 years ago. When I saw a pair of Lucchese Classics I was interested in it became obvious that price point wasn't gonna happen!

ML Leddy in Ft. Worth does do fine boot work as does James Leddy in Abilene. For non custom boots I have always been partial to Nacona, my brother and my dad wouldn't wear anything but Tony Lama, but that was years ago when their quality was up there with custom made boots. That being said the most comfortable pair I own are snake skin made in Mexico for 50 bucks!

Dito-I have 5 pairs no less! The tops are wide enough so I can get my instep in-Have them in Elk, Ostrich, Cow Hide-Only prob is that my ten year old Elk boots are really soft and they beat up easy.

I quit buying off-the-shelf boots years ago after I discovered Heritage Boots in Austin Texas. Heritage offers a wide selection of custom hand-made boots at a reasonable price. I‘ve worn boots all my life and can honestly say their boots are the most comfortable I’ve put my feet into. I'm not positive but I think they now sell over the internet.

If you buy off the shelf boots, go to the boot store in the afternoon or evening to try them on because your feet will be bigger than in the morning. It has to do with your feet swelling due to the weight you put on them walking around all day.

VERY GOOD ADVICE...HEED or go trough misery, not walking but long rides in a vehicle. Feet will swell from sitting...No kidding it happens. I had a pair of perfect hand fitted Paul Bond, got them new out of the box and headed for Northern Arizona where I ended up cutting down the side seem the relieve the torment, couldn't pull them off with all the subsribed tricks..Damn they were nice boots, and since they were tall it was worse. Cut side seems there is no repair except complete disassembly.

I am not interested in Western boots with pointed toes or high heels. I have a very high instep and it is almost impossible for me to get boots on my feet (8 1/2 M) unless there is a side zipper. I do not need water proof boots, as these will be for casual and dress wear. I bought a pair of Red Level boots from Bass Pro Shop. They are very comfortable and just what i wanted for jeans, BUT, they a waterproof and the zipper does not relieve them very much. I just hate the struggle of getting them on. What I really want is a pair of GOOD leather boots in a nice brown color with a full length side zipper that are comfortable, easy to get on and will take a good polish.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

I like most brands, and own many, including Tony Llama, Nocona, Chisolm, Lucchese, Dan Post, among others. But a few years ago I bought my first pair of Double H (HH) brand boots and found them to be so far superior in comfort and the equal to any other in build quality, that I won't buy any other brand now, even though they are made in China.
