Is there anyone out there in S&W land who has bought ammo from a supplier outside of Los Angeles County and had it shipped to their home address in said county?

I know you cant get ammo delivered in LA City, but cannot seem to get an answer as to delivery in the county.

thanks in advance
Chuck

Just my humble opinion but I would contact the local Law enforcement Sheriff or Police. They will no the law's better then anyone else. I see a lot of places who will not ship to certain states period. Might have a hard time finding a place that's even willing to ship to California if its legal.

Thanks was hoping to hear from someone who has had ammo shipped. Guess I will have to contact the local leo's.

thanks

Seems to me a couple of years ago during Gov Swartzenager signed a bill into law that makes it illegal to ship ammo or components for reloading into Ca to a private party. I remember because I sent an email about how that would reduce the states income from internet sales tax. Never got a response back from his office though.

The STATE ammo shipping law was overturned several years ago because it was ruled vague and undefined. The law said "handgun" ammo. As we all know numerous 9mm and .45mm carbines, as well as rifles in .357 and .44 exist. Once this was pointed out the judge had no choice.

As for LA city and county, calling a police station would more then likely give you a different answer at every station. You need to call and speak to a detective assigned to a firearms investigation unit.

mscampbell,
Well thats a good thing, finally something went in favor of the shooters there. I just remembered that it was an issue but never heard that it was overturned by a judge.

A revised version of the law was passed by the legislature in 2011, but Governor Brown declined to sign it on the grounds that the previous law was still going through the appeals process. I imagine the whole thing will come up again in the future.

Sorry, but I can't answer the question about the non-LA City portions of Los Angeles County.

One of the major online ammo sellers has a form in which you type your zip code, and it responds as to whether ammo can be shipped there. Unfortunately after 3 tries I can't find the site :( . Perhaps a phone call to customer service of one of the major retailers will get you an answer.

Well what I did was contact Cabelas, and went thru the steps to order 100rds of 9mm 115gr target ammo. I told the girl who took the order my concerns of whether shipping was possible, she typed in my zip, and seems to be ok!

we will see. . . . .

A rare good outcome for us!

Well my order from Cabela's came thru!

I made a test order of 2 boxes 9mm ammo, had it delivered to my address in Los Angeles County, and lo and behold it showed up a day early!

So if you do live in Los Angeles County, bulk ammo sales can be delivered to your addresses!:D
