Can You Believe Geraldo Rivera?

It seems the ace reporter celebrating his 70th birthday felt the need to take a photo of himself as he exited the shower and tweet it out to the masses. He had a towel in the appropriate place, but, I'm relieved to know that Geraldo still doesn't think it's all about him anymore.

He said that 70 is the new 50. I kinda wish he had gotten trapped in Al Capones vault those many years ago. The man has no shame. He should have run for political office. He has the mindset for one.

More like delusions of inadequacy....or would that be false pride? While at the University of Arizona, he legally changed his name to the Anglicized Jerry Rivers....apparently he was ashamed of his Hispanic roots.

I don't watch the putz and if I see him doing a story I turn him off. He has always been eat up with himself.

In 1970, Coumbia University had a fast track broadcast journalism program that was 11 months long, offering a certificate of completion, and was designed by WABC News for minorities....there was a consciousness at the time there were too few minority faces reporting the news on TV. Anyway, it was at this time that Jerry, having quite the mediocre career as a lawyer, decided to change his name back to Geraldo Rivera so that he could qualify for this full paid scholarship. It is because of his flip flopping of his ethnic identity that I have disliked this opportunist; not because of his hysterical and scandalous demagoguery of current events (which is and will always be the legacy of his career as a "journalist"), but because of his shameful lack of respect and pride for who and what he is ethnically.

He says hes not liberal but really is. I respect him for his position on things I agree with but--im finding that I firmly disagree with him more and more--and when i was younger--I loved watching his show when he was on in the mornings.

He was confronted about that on one of the shows that has skinheads on it-the "head" skinhead made a snide comment to a Mr. Ennis-who proceeded to start choking him and all hell broke loose-with chairs and fists flying and broken noses in the making. He wasnt ashamed then

Rivera's career-long problem has been that he is consistently guilty of breaking Journalism 101's Cardinal Rule: The reporter is never bigger than the reportage.

Can I believe Geraldo Rivera? I've never been able to believe anything about the schmuck. He has no real political convictions except that he should be elected Vice President For Sleazy Journalism of the Universe.

My late wife and I laughed our buns off when he found nothing in Capone's "vault", but wished he had broken through one more wall into Lake Michigan. Would have been a most gratifying flush.

But he changed it back right quick when being a ethnic minority became a possible advantage.

In the early 80's my late big sister worked at the Mustang Ranch. Now hold on! her and her boyfriend were cooks there working seven days on and seven days off cooking for the girls. When Geraldo did his show there he walked in a room and talked to a "customer" in bed with two girls. It was my sister's boyfriend and a totally contrived scene. I don't know if Geraldo was in on it or not.
As far as political guys go now, he occasionally makes sense enough for me to kind of like him, occasionally.
