5.45 Upper

Your Midway link shows a status of "discontinued". After the recent run on everything "AR", if it has been discontinued, I dout very much that there are very many, if any, "in stock" anywhere. Good luck.

anyone knows who makes one comparable? with these bulk prices, I def want to build one as my plinker instead of a 7.62x39

I had a LOT of problems with my 5.45x39 upper. I gave up on it and sold it during a panic for some ridiculous amount of money.

I had ten different magazines and still constantly had FTF, and triple feeding issues. Ended up buying an ak74, and it was fine until gas port erosion caused the rifle to egg out the rear trunion rivets, which caused the dust cover to pop off.

Never again will I mess with corrosive 5.45.

I went Saiga to launch 5.45. Just pee on it or douse with soapy water after shooting. No prolems. Smells a little funny. Those steel cores leave some NASTY holes.

I too nearly slipped down the 5.45 AR rabbit hole but heard far too many horror stories of FTF and troublesome magazines.

What kind of AK was it? Manufacturer?

That rifle had some kind of a prior problem. I have 3 AK 5.45 and have been shooting it for years. Most of my friends are knee deep in 5.45 AKs. Im also a memeber oncthe AKforum and I have not heard this yet. Seems like those rivets were improperly installed. Ive never even heard of this for corrosive 7.62x39.

In my opinion ....I leave 5.56 for American AR and x39/5.45 for Russian/ E. European AKs. Problems begin when people try to cross the two

10-4 Buy a 300 BLK upper, short/long barrel will give you more energy, accuracy, quietly. Vs less accuracy, majority of AR 762 X39 have feeding problems, less energy, but you do have cheaper ammo now! When the feeding frenzy ends, and US military starts to use 300 blk "officially" ammo prices will be more comparable. AK is a great weapon as an AK!! Be Safe,

It was a Bulgarian rifle built by Troy at In range. Started having problems around the 5k mark.

I was expecting to hear Century. But its not. Quality parts, good builder....odd! I still think someone didnt install the rivets properly. Or the original barrel was over gassed from the factory. Anyway I guess it doesn't matter anymore
