That's a real good price and I paid more for my commander size version I bought a few weeks ago. I've a couple hundred rounds through mine with no problems and I think they are real nice guns especially for the money.
I've only owned Kimber 1911s so that's all I have to compare to but am real happy with mine. I'd buy another full size at that price too if I had the cash right now.
I have had a commander version for about six months. I have over a thousand rounds of 230 gr round nose and 200 gr SWC through it without a singe failure to feed or eject. Fit and finish are what you would expect from a much more expensive pistol. The pistol is an almost exact copy of the original Colt commander with the addition of a slightly larger thumb safety and beavertail grip safety. My pistol came from the factory with a good 4.5 lb trigger pull, and shoots two and a half to two three quarter inch 25 yd groups from a rest. This pistol is a great deal for the price. Best of all it only has the safeties that originally came on the 1911. It has none of the recent add on trigger safeties, that the lawyers were so fond off.
A SR1911 for under $600 is a darned good bang for your buck. That's about the cheapest price I've seen on them since I bought mine in February for a whole lot more. Even at near $700, I felt it was good bang for the buck.
At $600 I'd be all over another one. They're very hard to get in Kalifornistan but I wound up with one at $800 OTD after shipping, fees & taxes and feel it was still a good bang for the buck. I've been extremely happy with mine.
It's an American made stainless 1911 with everything I want & nothing I don't. It's backed by some of the best CS in the business.
Buy it. I doubt you'll be sorry.
This is generally where the Kimber & Springer fanboiz chime in with "But for just a little more blah blah blah."
I've had one for a little more than a year now. Mine was $650.00 otd.
It's the best bang for the buck I've seen in 1911 land in many years.
While the Commander size seems popular with this group, they aren't for me. I carry plastique pistols, so the Gov't size is the only 1911 that interest me.
I bought one in September of 2012 and have over 5000 rounds through it without so much as a hiccup! The most reliable 1911 I own! Good price too...................I may have to buy another.
