Best "Doom & Gloom" books...

Any book by James Wesley, Rawles makes for interesting/informative reading on survivalism.

I have read some of his works. He makes some good points and had great action scenes, but the writing and dialog leaves much to be desired. And what's up with the comma before his last name?

I think you mean :"The Mist".

The Strain (book, not the movie), the sequels are "OK"
The Stand (already mentioned)

BTW: The Biblical book is "Revelation" (of John), NOT "Revelations".

Yep, it's The Mist. I guess I have Adrienne Barbeau on my mind...:)

Last year I downloaded these books for reading during my vacation and found them to be in the main scary plausible. Bracken posits that the Federal government tries to confiscate all semi auto firearms and finding that hard to do, performs several false flag operations to give widespread support to their efforts. things go south from there with a corrupt president that wants to give the SW US back to Mexico, economic chaos, ect.
I enjoyed them. The lesson is really about forming a community as one person in a SHTF time does not have the ability to survive.
