This rifle belonged to late forum member Sandy Jacobs. His wife (widow) bought it for him in 1976 (it dates to May '76). No box, etc. I'd like to establish a fair value before offering it up for sale. It's a 7mm Rem. Mag.

Here's some photos I just took. One ding on the stock, left side at the foreward checkering. Some kind of residue at the ejection port. One mark on the bottom of the floorplate. Has the plug screws where the sights (none) mount, very clean bolt face, beautiful bore. Barrel and receiver blue in excellent condition. The scope is a Bushnell 3x9, Banner model, waterproof (nominal value I believe still evidently made). Serial number is A6304XXX. Barrel code KI.

Any help with a fair value is greatly appreciated. I've found one other for sale on a non-auction site for almost $1k with an arguably better scope, no idea on the vintage. Being a left handed rifle there's probably a smaller market for these. This will eventually go up for sale with the funds going to Sandy's widow.

Being a left handed shooter this is intriguing. Lefties will bring a slight premium. I would put a value of $700 to $800 the way it sits.

Being a Southpaw myself, I dont disagree with your valuation to the right buyer but that guy is getting harder and harder to find. I could be interested in the gun myself but I would only use the action. I think most folks today want short action, synthetic stocks, DBM, and modern optics and mounts. I dont think the vintage adds any value other than it has the pre X Mark trigger. The OP may get the 7-800 if he is willing to wait for the right buyer.

Left Hand M700

A friend sold an almost identical rifle, but with a 3-9 Zeiss scope in Weaver-type mounts, for $450 to another member at our gun club. He too was selling the rifle (and some other long guns) for an old friend's widow.

My friend had taken the rifle to a couple of local gun shows and didn't get much interest - even low-ball offers. I would have put the value at $5-600 but the caliber seemed to hurt the value around here more than the fact that it was left-handed.

I sold this exact rifle, in better shape than this one, no scope, Leopold Bases- $500.
LH rifles are hard to find when you are looking for one but hard to sell when you want to sell one.
I know this sounds counter intuitive, but I been buying-selling Lefthand rifles for a long time.

Thank you gentlemen very much. I've added this to the classifieds at a price that was recommended by a knowledgeable gentleman/dealer in my area as well as a Remington "enthusiast". I realize it's not an easy gun to sell but not ready to go to a "fire sale" price. I can be patient.

Another example of the great people on this forum.
