Asking for a friend, as I do not own one. He is looking for an Inside The Pocket Holster for a S&W 686 with a 2 1/2" barrel. Is anyone using one now, or is anyone aware of any?

You could have one custom made by most holster makers, e.g., Ryan Grizzle. Another option is Detroit Holster, who will mold a Kydex pocket holster to fit practically any firearm and laser combination.

That said, I have a 686-6 2-1/2", and would consider it much too large for pocket carry at 7-1/2" long and 46 oz loaded. I frequently pocket carry, but no larger than a Springfield XDs, or possibly an XDM2 3.3". Even that is pushing the envelope.

You would need cargo sized pockets, which would allow the revolver to swing around as you walk, printing and banging your leg.

A 686 snubby, up to 3", is very comfortable in an IWB, such as a Sparks VM2, and easily concealed.

What size pockets does he have?...That is a large gun, I do not own anything with a pocket that size. I hope he plans on a good belt and suspenders with that idea......... just say'n

He, like me, wears Cargo Shorts, with a strong 2" heavy leather belt, almost all the time. Except for maybe Jan/Feb, it never gets too cold here in Henderson, NV. to wear shorts.

IMHO a M686 is just NOT a pocket pistol! Even with a custom made holster the gun is just way too large and way too heavy for serious pocket carry - unless you are the Jolly Green Giant ;)

Mika made me a pocket holster for my 242ti. It's an L frame with a 2.5" barrel so the same holster would fit a 686.
