I see where Remington has answered Mossberg with a non nfa gun of their own. I'm thinking SWEET but then I start to ponder.......

My 870: 38.76 inches overall-18/5 barrel 8 shots plus one in chamber.

new 870: 26.3" overall, 14 barrell 4 shots plus one in the chamber.

at an MSRP of $449 I'm thinking that I really don't need this since I don't thinking carrying an 870 concealed is in my future. I'm thinking that it would be a bear to control with that grip.
BUT if I ever decide to go off and get to geehaddin' a pair of these joined by a lanyard around my neck under a duster wearing a black slouched hat would be just the ticket.

Model 870 Tac-14 | Remington

For those of you who don't think like me-your prayers have been answered and I hope Remington sells a snot load of them.

History About to Repeat Itself?

If you recall the political hysteria over "cop-Killer" bullets, the plastic guns that could "defeat" detection at airports and the emotional handwringing at the mere thought of using Black Talon bullets against another alleged human being, I think I know where these whittled shotguns are heading.

Always been an 870 guy plus have a Moss 500. Kinda wanted to try the 590 for giggles and the shockwave seemed interesting to an extent. Having had pistol grip shottys before, I wasn't expecting anything much different other than a 4" shorter barrel. Having now fired the SW with various 2-3/4" high-brass loads, there were no surprises. IMO, it's a short-barrel PG shotgun, which is easy to wield in close quarters but that's about it. I paid (over paid) $400 for my SW and if I could find someone locally to buy it, they'd own it. Just my opinion.
I will say that for giggles, I plan to mount it under the dash of my ATV as its small size will be pretty much outta sight, outta mind yet still readily accessible.

I've shot my 870 Gatekeeper II out to 15 yards and got good patterns. It wasn't hard to hit at that distance.

Yeah.... I was just reading something in the so called "media" the other day about how the NRA was pushing to allow the sale of "Deadly Silencers"!!!! Despite the fact that suppressors are already for sale, just taxed, there is something about the use of pejorative adjectives that lends a certain childish panache to the bigoted "reporting" of the biased "media".

Best Regards, Les

I would like to have the new Remington, wish it had sling swivels. I would also use the Remington light loads made for it. I have an 18" barrel model 1100 and I love it. I have a model 870, as well, but have always liked semi-auto anything.

My SW patterned ok, about like my 12" SBS. The trade off for me is compactness (no stock) for controllability (with stock).
Being a non-NFA item is also a plus.
I find the type of grip on this to be easier to shoot (and hit) than the pistol grip guns that I've shot over the years.

I'm a little behind on ATF rules, a Luger or Mauser with stock ,
a Win 92 Trapper, Marble Game Getter are under lincese ? These
Non Shotguns aren't. I can see a flood of foreign guns in
Single & double at cheap prices coming into the country. Looks
like the perfect companion piece for a Tech-9.

This is great news, but potential buyers be aware of one thing. The OPsol mini adapter which allows the Mossberg to properly feed the Aguila mini-shotshells does not fit the 870. The adapter manufacturers have not been able to come up with a design for the 870.

BTW, my Shockwave works perfectly with the Aguila mini-shells using the adapter. My only issue is finding the Aguila ammo.

That's good to know, thanks for posting. A semi-local shop has the nobels and thought about trying them.
Where did you get your OPSol?
ETA:
Just curious, did you try them without the adaptor?

I have seen those shortie shotgun shell for a while and realy do not get it. Seem like many jamming type problems with them.

My primary house defense gun is a 12G 9 shot Mossie, that holds plenty and so far it works at a 100% Just in case I also have a bandoleer holding plenty of extras close to the gun 1/2 00Buck and the other 1/2 slugs!

For a while I used my 12G 1100 (5 shots) deer gun 20" bbl til I bought the Mossie. I doubt that those shells will work in that gun.

I also have a coach gun (SXS), of course those shorties will work in that if pressed into service. But why have a specialty round just for that gun!
