I kind of see them as the "practical Python" at least for today. One can find a really good 686 pre-lock for $600 these days if they hunt. Try and find a similar Python in the same condition for several times as much money... and really, what do you get over the 686? Not much, and what you do get does not matter for a fighting/combat revolver.

As far as the guns I own, this is the best looking:

But I don't think you can beat a vintage '89 S&W 627 to gander at all day long.
