I have about a half a box of Remington (Dogbone) Kleanbore 32 Short Rimfire. "Non-Corrosive"
Can I assume that these are smokeless loads?
Copper cases, white oxide on the lead bullets. Are these worth anything or should I see if they will actually fire??

The were made both in black powder, and later in smokeless so don't make any assumptions. They are uncommon. I think they were last made overseas, maybe South America in the 1970s. Pretty sure they have some collector value. You should find some answers with the ammo collectors, of which I am not.

Yes they are smokeless (non-corrosive) loads. Of course, they still used a mercury based corrosive priming compound, so one should clean up after shooting with both soap & water and Hoppes. They probably still work today. I have shot some much older that functioned fine. I think the earliest dog bone boxes are from around 1926.

Thanks Gary!!
The box is one of the green ones and probably worthless. One end flap is missing and the other is still there but detached.

Fulminate of Mercury primers went the way of the Dodo by the Spanish-American War, with a few minor exceptions. Among other issues they had a very brief shelf life, especially in high temperature environments. If the cartridges have non-corrosive priming you can be reasonably certain that they are from the post-1920s period and are loaded with smokeless powder. Dogbone Remington boxes are indicative of the late 1920s-1930s. They are still probably as reliable as if they had been manufactured today. Never throw away an old box of ammunition just because it is old.
