My friend has an opportunity to purchase a Ruger SR1911 stainless, .45 ACP Oklahoma State Trooper commerative pistol for $500. He is also purchasing a Ruger mini-14 for $1000. He hopes to bundle 2 and drop the price.

Anyone familiar with this particular pistol (commemorative) and the current value? He doesn’t really have a big interest in the pistol due to the cost of shooting it. I’ve never owned a 1911 and told him that I would probably purchase it from him.

Thanks in advance!!!

Ditto on all accounts. I was thinking that that was a little high on the mini-14 and a steal on the .45. Just hope my buddy doesn’t decide to keep it. I live in South Dakota and he is in Arkansas. I won’t see him until at least Christmas. That gives him a lot of time to fall in love with it.

GREAT price on the 1911. They are very good pistols. I have several 1911’s but would buy that one at that price in a heartbeat. The price on the Mini is about where I’m seeing them lately.

He also has a chance to pick up a Thompson Center .50 caliber black powder rifle for $80 from the same guy.

$500 is cheap for a regular production SR1911.

To make a commemorative increase or even hold value they need to stay unfired with all original paperwork, etc. But if you want to shoot the dickens out of one ….. snag it!

I agree that $1000 is a tad high on the Mini though.

They might balance each other out if you’re gonna flip the 1911.

Steal on the .45.

The Mini? Not so much, unless....... accessories?
Basically all aftermarket Mini mags are cruddy, LOL. So, if it's stainless, has the most recent sights, has a number of Ruger OEM, 10, 20, or 30rd mags....then perhaps.

Grab it before it's gone!

I paid more than twice that earlier this year for this NRA Edition Ruger SR1911 when I purchased it as a gift for my brother.

Prior to the pandemic, a plain old Ruger SR1911 would run for around $700-$800 depending on the model, special edition models ran for $900-$1000.

I’ve never owned a 1911, unless you consider the Browning Hi Power a 1911. The few I’ve held, I didn’t like the grip. I am hoping that that can be remedied with Hogue grips. For $500, I will give it a shot if my friend can make the deal happen.

Regarding the 14, friend of mine had been looking for one for months. Wanted blued with wood stock. I found one for him and paid $1000. It came with four Ruger magazines and 100 rounds of ammunition.

The 1911 is a bargain at that price.

Commemorative means pretty much nothing, but a Ruger 1911 for that price is a steal! Jump on it now.
Not to mention, that mini-14 is very collectable so depending it's condition may be a good price?

Ok. The deal ain’t happening. The Ruger .45 is a P90DC, Oklahoma Highway Patrol commemorative. The guy won’t relent in price. To top it off, he has to ask his wife’s permission before he can sell!
