Stopped in local Gander Outdoors looking for some specific split shot for fly fishing. Hadn't been there in a month or so. I don't usually go there unless other local places don't have what I need. The entire firearms/ammo/hunting sections were gone. The fishing section was gone also. Asked a manager about it. Said fishing section was coming back but not firearms, etc. (They are remodeling.) Said it wasn't enough mark up in th e and ammo.

The store has basically turned into a mega RV supercenter. So if travelling on I-81 in SW Va don't stop at Gander looking for guns or ammo.

The used to be a Gander Mountain near us. About 3 years ago in transitioned into a Gander Outdoors and basically became a clothing/camping/RV seller. Shortly after COVID hit they closed the doors.

Around here, there were very few Gander's Mountain and their sucessors.

They have changed names more often than most people change socks...this always sets up red flags to me to begin with along with the fact they seem to always be going out of business only to pop back up under a new name. However, I have made a few good guns purchases there.

The two locally have gone from guns, ammo, outdoor and fishing gear and clothing to RV and furniture stores. The employees I have spoken with said it was a decision from corporate and they see the handwriting on the wall.

Around here, I give them about six to eight months before they shut down again (this will be third or fourth time, IIRC).

There's a Gander near me on I-95. Other than the 500 RVs and campers parked outside, I couldn't tell you what they have.

The GM that was in Ashland VA, didn't last long, Green Top moved in there, that is my favorite store, when I'm down there I go every day.

Gander Mountain basically went out of business quite awhile ago. Camping World bought the name and kept some, but not all, stores open but converted them to RV stores. I'm surprised yours was still selling anything besides RV supplies and repairs at this date.

Marcus Lemonis the CEO of Gander, and “star” of the show American Profit is supposed to be a business expert. But man he seems to shoot himself in the foot a lot.
First off he said he didn't want Trump supporters business, which is telling half the population to go elsewhere. I’m thinking they did.
Now he eliminates guns/ammo and hunting gear.
Anyone who’s shopped GM’s guns knows they priced their guns very high and consequently didn’t sell many.
The key is to balance profit and volume.
I’ve bought many used guns there for bargain basement prices though.

The last time I was there when they had guns a couple of months ago they had at least three glass cases full of used pistols and revolvers. Most in poor to very poor condition and priced very high. Don't think they sold many.
