45 cal carbine

I'm a 9mm Hi-Point carbine owner. The trigger is atrocious, but it goes bang every time. Speer Gold Dot 124gr +P ammo makes a very satisfying crack as it goes downrange.

I have a 9mm version which has been good enough to have me looking at adding a 45 ACP to the collection.

Have mine in a HTA MBS stock, not for the "tacti-cool" factor, but more because it's something you don't see that often, went through a kind of silly stage in life of turning inexpensive guns into moderately priced ones for the sake of doing it, and there wasn't one in the collection :)

Did the new stock improve the trigger?

Did the new stock improve the trigger?

Given how bad the stock Hi-Point triggers are I suppose it might have, I don't think there's a way to make it worse :)

During this period I also converted a pair of 10/22's to bullpups with the Trek-22 and HTA 90/22 stocks. You really can't get an improvement converting something to a bullpup since it will be using the existing one and adding a linkage, although Desert Tech claims the Trek-22 does.

I have a Marlin Camp 45, I bought new in the early 90's. I like that it uses 1911 mag. Not very tacticool, but a very handy carbine.

I think it depends on the uniform they're wearing......Ben

How accurate are these guns? Anyone ever benchrest one and shoot 50 yard groups?

Not a 45 caliber but my 9mm version will constantly hit a 6" paper plate at 100 yds, from a rest, on a calm day, when I do can get my old eyes to focus properly. Not stellar accuracy but if I need more accuracy than that the HiPoint is not the firearm I reach for. When we went camping as a family the carbine was the camp gun because everyone, wife, kids and I, could shoot it well.

My buddy & I both have the 9mm carbines. It almost seemed like a relay was triggered at round 101-the trigger just seemed to improve dramatically after putting 100 rounds through them.

He also has the .45 Carbine, and the same thing happened with it.

Despite what some may post, Hi Points are affordable, UGLY, reliable firearms that MANY folks enjoy tremendously.

Thanks for the response. I've never owned or fired a Hi Point carbine and was curious as to the accuracy. 6" at 100 yards isn't too bad and is better than what I would have guessed. Anyway, 100 yards is kind of stretching it for anything in 9mm chambering.

No experience with the .45 Hi Point carbine, but I’ve shot a few of the 9mm version. Performed much better than I thought it would. Several guys at my club shoot the 9mm Hi Point carbines in a pistol caliber carbine silhouette match, they can hit the rams at 100 yards with them. They all shoot hand loads in them, mostly to achieve enough power to knock the rams over.

I guess I'm the only one so far with a 45ACP version. I have a cheap red-dot on it and I've only shot it at around 30-40 yards, but accuracy was fine.

About five of us at the firehouse decided to get a HP carbine. Two of us got the .45 and three got the 9MM. We all enjoyed them with no complaints about accuracy or function. We had a lot of fun with them. The love affair lasted only about a year or so as we all sold them and moved on to different things. Reselling seemed to be no problem either. All in all, they are functional, economical, and enjoyable.

I have both Marlins. Only complaint I have read about them is the recoil buffer often not that durable. The steel receiver has a nice heft to it.
