FPC NEW and Improved buffer end plug?

I ordered one of the Taccom buffer end plugs and it shortens bolt travel by about 3/8 of an inch. I haven't gotten to the range yet.

Okay, so here we go. I got the Nordic Components handguard for the FPC. Awesome! Just the look alone makes it better. Pluses: better looks, strong handguard, true free floating barrel. Cons: the locking charging handle doesn't lock the way it used to./

I still have to take it to the range and check the sights and red dot again.

Not locking in place seems like a major faux pas on their part. Have you contacted them about it?

I have not. Doesn't give me any heart burn. I only fold it when I go to the range. It will kind of lock in place if you pull back on the charging handle to the next slot.

If that is the only con then I am good. Going to take it to the range tonight to see how it goes.

Range report. So I took my FPC out to the range to get everything sighted in. After 17+ rounds I was back to dead on. Still punching a big hole at 10yrds. Good on target at 25 and 50. The carbine is better than me which makes me think I should put a scope on it to see exactly how good it can be.

No regrets going with the Nordic handguard.

I removed the sleeves from my 23 rnd mags. I have been shooting it in a couple of 2 gun local idpa matches. Found the mag wasn't dropping out freely. Turned out the beefy part of my palm near my wrist was rubbing on the sleeve holding the mag from dropping. Removed the sleeve and it drops just fine now.

S&W should have made these spacers out of rubber rather than hard plastic and spec'd em for a tighter fit. I've found wood glue, rubber cement or friction tape are all good non-permanent solutions.

Did you save weight?
What does the factory HG weigh?

I find the "improved buffer plug" does little for an already light recoil.
However, it does perhaps enable an easier reassembly after cleaning.
Speaking of cleaning. Has anyone found a way to clean all the blowback debris out of the bolt tube? I use a bottle brush with some success.

I use stick on velcro on the mag spacers to keep them from moving. Put a piece of the the softer stuff on the inside of the spacer. Doesn't take much. It will tighten it up where they don't move but you can remove them easily. Get the cheapest, wimpiest stick on Velcro you can find.

I usually just don't use them.
