Hi folks,

I recently acquired one of my longtime searches, a 63 snub. Upon receipt, the resemblance to a 4/5ths scale Model 66 was striking.

Then the 629 wanted to be in the pic. No boot grips, unfortunately. :D

The 63 came with box and papers, appears unfired. I'll fix that problem shortly.

Which one would YOU pick?

For me, the N frames tend to be too big and the bore axis too high. J frames are a bit small but manageable, but the K is just right. Like warm porridge. :)

I wholeheartedly agree with "murphydog".

That 63 is beautiful! I've never seen one in the wild.

While I love my K-snubs, these are now relegated to bedside and range duty.

I now mostly carry my "Goldilocks gun" - a 640-1 Pro.

I'm a fan of the 63-3 myself. It is fantastically fun gun to shoot.

Mine gives truth to the saying "you can't pay too much; you can only buy too early." I paid more than I wanted to for this one, but it would cost me more now.

I'm biased towards the 686. Some say L Frame is too big, but I find it a happy medium between the K and N frame. It is the "smallest" frame for consistent magnum loads which is what I prefer to shoot. The K frame can shoot 357, however, for long-term shooting it is more suitable for 38 special which I find to be lacking for my tastes YMMV

Since the OP is asking about the three in this photo I would go with the 66 due to its operational history as true combat magnum.

K-frames are the goldilocks revolvers of the S$W line. So I vote 66. I think they are just about perfect.

I had to read up on the 63. A stainless 22LR J-frame with a 3" barrel seems like a fun kit gun.

It's a nice family you've got there.
