Father in Law decided to pop some popcorn.. He put it in the microwave.. ...I mean Holy C***. It was Jiffy Pop in the aluminum foil pan with the metal handle...He was 95 though. Cooked that Microwave...It wouldn't work after that

Ho boy...
I was working long days, on call 24/7. That level of fatigue can literally make you as stupid as a drunk.
At away lodging, a Best Western, I put a dry soup bowl in the microwave and crashed on the bed. Woke up smelling smoke but could not get the microwave out on the patio before the smoke alarm went off.
I thought there would be hell to pay but nothing happened, nobody left their rooms or anything.
Shut the heater off and slept with the patio door opened.
Saw a BoBo at work try to cook his microwave dinner in a toaster oven.
Kinda funny watching him sprint thru the control room a with flaming appliance.

MW is microwave.
With most microwaves, time left on the cook setting stops the next user entering their cook time OR, as described by Farmer17, the wrong time is input and hilarity follows. The other thing is that it drives the OCD types nuts.

I warm up fish all the time in the microwave put a cover over it with a little space and don’t over nuke it, lol.
That's good to know. NYC could take a lesson from that.
