I bought one earlier this week since the weather is getting cooler and I have never enjoyed carrying my 686 due to the weight issues. The chest holster looked stout in the photos I saw and this is the Nylon edition and not the leather.

any opinions for my 4 inch Maggie?

I have a leather version for a Bowen Custom 41 Mag and I couldn't be happier. It is comfortable and keeps the revolver tight to the chest. Ideal for working on the farm, or hiking, hunting etc. The nylon version looks like it has basically the same strap set up as the leather model, just in nylon. Hope this helps.

A guy on another forum has both and he said with the nylon version the gun sags a lot .

I also have the leather version that I carry my 6” model 29 in. It’s a Very good quality chest rig that holds the revolver in tight and comfortably for hours while I’m out hunting.

Uh oh. Mine arrives this Thursday so I will report back if that’s the case for me as well..
I’m sure it has to do with the weight of the gun . A 686 shouldn’t be a problem. Now a 6” Anaconda is another thing altogether.

Watching, please let us know what you think. I have a 6” 10mm 1911 with a red dot and have been considering this, the leather version, as well as one from Craft. Mainly for a woods roaming rig.

I bought a chest holster from Paradise Valley Leather for my Taurus M44 4" and like it a lot. I liked their leather work for it so much I bought a leather 6 round holder that fits on a strap to go with it.

I have three of the leather versions, and two of the nylon. Yes, I like them a lot. My nylon versions were both purchased with the cutout for a reflex sight. One of those was for a 7 1/2” Freedom Arms, not a lightweight gun by any means and it stays tight to the body. The strap adjustment helps to keep it tight. I am primarily a handgun hunter and chest rigs are the best way to carry my gun in my opinion. I will guess and say for your 4” L frame you won’t notice it’s there until you need it. I also use a chest rig anytime I am wearing a backpack.

An added bonus for the Denali is the spare ammo loops. Those are an added accessory for the leather Guide’s Choice.

I have the Guides Choice leather version for my 686+ 3". Excellent rig, especially for farm work. Rides close to chest, very secure. I really don't notice the weight of the 686 when wearing it.

I have the leather version and carry various 6"-6.5" N-Frames with it. Perfect holster.

Ok holster arrived yesterday and here go my honest thoughts:

1. I really like it so far! The gun does stick out slightly but after playing around with the adjustment straps, I tamed it. It doesn’t help I have a beer gut so I need to drop a few kilos AFTER the holidays <wink>

2. The ballistic nylon is stout and my 4 inch barrel fit very well. The small strap that clips on to the hammer felt a tad flimsy though.

3. Shipping was FAST. Took 2 days to ship from Alaska. I paid the extra $20 for FedEx. In retrospect, I could have saved that money since I noticed the exact holster was on Amazon

4. Comfort. Once I had the straps adjusted, I was able to easily sit, stand and walk around and it felt really good carrying it on my chest

Maybe next year Santa will bring me the Leather edition as that baby looks very nice!

Question for those who carry their handgun in a chest holster when hunting with a rifle: How do you carry your binoculars?

I have two chest holsters for revolvers: a Diamond D Denali and a Skyball Mountain, both nylon. I've ended carrying my trail revolver on my belt while rifle hunting, as I like to have my binocs easily accessible around my neck.

The hammer strap is supposed to be flimsy, when you NEED to draw to save your life the strap is designed to snap..time saver. At least on my leather version.
