Well, partly, anyway. I’ve been hankerin’ for a very common 6” M&P .38 Special that didn’t cost much and got this one. and I wanted a home for these thin $30 pearl grips I bought over 20 years ago. They just didn’t jive with my later K frames. I really like old blue worn patina DAs that have honest use but shoot good. If it was reblued before I don’t care. price was $295 shipped. Serial # 3007XX was said to be 1919. Is that correct? I think it looks and feels great. The almost smooth original (I assume?) medallion grips have about 5% checkering left on them.

1919 - 1920. Problem with after-market pearls is that they are often too thin and tend to slip in the hand. That is why they checkered wood and hard rubber - for a surer grip.

SWEET !

I hit the LIKE button ... but I wanted to hit the LOVE button !

I don't know why but I have always liked Pearl !
In 1971 I bought my first revolver , Ruger Blackhawk SA , boughtJay Scott faux white Pearl ... read what GeneralPatton said about Pearl grips and promptly ordered a set of Ivory ...
I still have the Jay Scott fake pearl ... just in case I go to a New Orleans Sporting House !!!

When I first saw “The Cullpepper Cattle Company” when I was around 15 I got a set of Jay Scott mother-of-plastic grips for my old model Ruger Single Six .22. I thought actor Geoffrey Lewis was so cool with his Pearl handled Colt in that movie. That was my first single action. Pictured here with my most recent one.

Pearl was favored by several of the Texas Rangers. Frank Hamer being one of them. Barthomew Barclay Masterson was another who appreciated pearl.

I visited the shrine to GSP at Fort Knox. Two small pistols were on display as belonging to the General. Both had pearl grips.

Maybe the belly gun I'm building as a tribute to the General's vision of a Nawlins pimp gun is not that far off the mark - a 2.25" barreled, nickel plated .38 S&W Regulation Police, shipped 3/1921...Still searching for MOP's for an RP......Ben

Ben,

The pistols I saw were small self loaders. A Colt, maybe Browning 6.35 mm and a Remington 32 if I remember correctly.

I love the look of pearl grips. Those really look great Wyatt. Some guns just really look wonderful with pearl grips.
