Got an eye opener yesterday, bought a gun off of Gun Broker which I haven't done in quite some time. Went to the local shop to see about getting the gun shipped there and put in my name, they now want $50.00 to do the transfer. $50 to transfer a $250 gun. Looked around and finally found a shop that will do it for $25 which was the most of what I expected to pay. Its a shame that now with the cost of shipping and transfer fees you have to add close to $100 to the price of what you though was a good deal. This is definitely going to have an effect on my future firearm buys off of the internet.

My LGS is still $25, but everything has to be done by fax, no mail, no phone calls!

One store was $40 or more (depending on the value of the gun) twenty-five years ago. One of my friends would order custom shotguns from Berretta and have them shipped there! Berretta pays all fees but it is fixed at $30. They would get so mad at not being able to charge $100-$150!

I do enough business with two different shops, they give me a very nice break, IF IT IS SOMETHING THEY DO NOT STOCK.

Since most everything I consider is discontinued, I get the break. If it is something they stock but some bozo goes on the internet and buys it for less, they have a different transfer fee.

I think that is a good system.

Transfer price in my area ranges from $10 to $50. I'm fortunate to have found the $10 guy, though I have been doing business with him for many years. I should say I'm fortunate he dropped his price so low.

Generally, if it's important to you, shop around. You might look on the internet for transfer pricing in your area.

I checked every shop within a 20 mile area and even the stores that I visit often and the cheapest one was $25 unless you buy the gun there (that used to be free) now charge $10.I don’t think calling someone a bozo for finding a better price on an item, yes charge him more but don’t screw him.

$30 without a CCW, $15 with a CCW, no NICS with a CCW.

My NY FFL let you lock in your price for life when you did your first transfer. My first was $25 so as his transfer price goes up, mine would still be $25.

I once sent a rifle to my son in Anchorage Alaska. Gun shop quoted me $65 bucks. Gun was sent. They then call me to say shipping was more than they thought. I owed them another $40. I asked if gun was already shipped. When they said yes, I replied that it sounds like I don’t owe them anything.

My store still just charges $10 like they have for at least 15 years. They do a LOT of transfers because of it and probably make more net money from transfers than the stores that charge high rates.

Have 3 local FFL shops within a reasonable distance and charges range from $20, $25., and the third charges $40.

I have to go to the "preferred" FFL locally. One outfit uses a "$35 guy" another uses a different "$40 guy." Selling is whole 'nother animal with $100 as the norm to ship out. I sold 3 guns Saturday for $400 less than my "best in mind" price. Since there was no tax/shipping/BGC if figure I broke even. Joe

Just received gun through local shop transfer that increased their charge from $25 to $40. Considering the shop is 1 mile away and the scarcity of gun shops close by, am still considering this a deal. It allows me to shop from places that can afford to keep large inventory.

It also supports local ffl that supports our local range and keeps him open in city of 2400 people (largest city in the county)

edited to add the $40 included a back ground check.

With GB fees, shipping fees and transfer fees these days expect to add $75- 100 on top of your winning bid. My FFL, a home based guy, charges $25

All depends on where you are and how much the store owner thinks he can gouge customers for. Recently I have paid as little as $35 and as much as $75. The $75 was back in NY, an anti gun State with few Dealers to choose from. Where I live now there are plenty of FFL's to choose from so they need to be competitive.

$20-$50 is the range in my area then add on the $12.50 Colorado fee for NICS to receive a firearm. Having dealer ship runs from $65 on up as neither FedEx or UPS hubs accept from individuals. Seems like more and more ffls don’t like Ship My Gun either.

What does it cost for gas, or a dozen eggs? Having an FFL fee go up was expected.

I would be happy if 50 bucks was all they charged.

One more example of gun control and its death by a thousand cuts.

Prices around PGH are generally $25-40. One store charges $35 for a gun I had shipped to them, and I believe $5 if I buy it from them. A pretty popular shop just South outside the City Limits won't budge off of MSRP, and I think I paid $40 for just a transfer shipped to them. But, the price of the gun was much lower than what they wanted. Whatever...
