I received a beautiful pre-29 with the black box. The exterior of the box is pretty nice, the interior is not. It is also not like the other black boxes I have. It has a cardboard cutout where the gun sits. It does have holes where the elastic tool holders were. I initially thought it had been replaced, but because of the age and the other things, I am questioning this.

I plan on replacing the interior, but wondering if this one could possibly be original?

The underlying cardboard frame appears correct to me. I dont think the gray fabric is original. Maybe our resident expert, Joe Cebull will be along to weigh in.

If I remember correctly, the ones I have seen that are original had a blue satin lining. I would say yours is not original. Just my two cents while we wait for the experts to weigh in.
Nice looking gun. Think there are also a couple of people here that do a good job of restoration on the cases.
