OGCA show accident - OGCA Roberts Center Shows Canceled

Wow! I feel like I have been kicked in the gut to hear about this accident.

I am a life member of OGCA, having joined in 1982. I was planning to go to the March show but didn't make it because my buddy couldn't go. Now I am really glad I was not there.

My heart goes out to the two who were shot. The table holder who allowed this to happen should be expelled for life. The patron who mishandled the rifle likewise. I'm shocked to hear he ran from the scene.

The OGCA is a fantastic organization. I hate that something of this nature will bring the organization into question.

I plan to attend the Baltimore Antique Arms Show this Saturday. Let's hope for no incidents there!

This is just my two cents.

I was a table holder for many years at the OGCA meetings in Wilmington, since moving to North Carolina I haven’t participated in a couple of years. All table holders are required to tie and remove all magazines. There are security individuals from the OGCA that will walk around and check tables.

In my opinion this is all on the table holder and the guy who pulled the trigger. The OGCA will definitely take it on the chin for this and god willing will continue to have meetings at the Wilmington location.

Thank the dear lord there were no fatalities. OGCA is a classy organization with many wonderful people….

OGCA just sent out photos requesting identification of some people. I hope this produces results.

Here it is, repeated:

Do you know these people?
Did you see something at our Saturday, March 15th show that can help tie all of the facts together? Please speak up for the benefit of your fellow members and contact Detective Karen Abbitt
by email at [email protected]
or call Detective Abbitt at the Clinton County Sheriff's Office at 937-382-1611.

Please do not contact OGCA regarding this, we will not discuss Detective Abbitt’s inquiry with you.
Any information you have needs to be provided to Detective Abbitt.
Please assist the detective with this inquiry if you have any information on these individuals.

Hope this helps!

OGCA Roberts Center Shows Cancelled!

I received a message from OGCA that ALL future shows at the Roberts Center have been cancelled. I felt this was coming and unfortunately it is here. Meetings in Cleveland will continue. OGCA will be actively looking for a new venue in SW Ohio.

What will be the future for the OGCA? Most of us will not travel to Cleveland. A venue the size of Roberts center with adequate parking will be very difficult to find in SWOhio.

I had hoped they would be able to work things out and stay there. Very sad that one persons carelessness can screw things up for all the other members. Really don't care for the drive up to Cleveland, raises costs enough for me to pass on most of the shows there. Too bad Columbus is controlled by anti-gun politicians, that used to be a great venue and right in the middle of the state made for better access for members from all over. Hope they can find someplace soon.

Somebody's carelessness ruins things for everyone. I have not been to an OGCA meeting for several years as the drive was getting too long for me but I hope they can find a venue either centrally located or in SW Ohio.

Lets see;
they lost Columbus due to politics, There were several reasons the IX center wasn't good for a lot of members. Found the Roberts Center which was great and now lost it.

Is Hara Arena north of Dayton still viable? I know they held at least one meeting there.

Hara Arena does not exist any longer. Damaged by a tornado and then torn down.

Over the years OGCA has had a couple of negligent discharge incidents and honestly failed to take meaningful steps to prevent further.
I used to work at the Holiday Inn attached to the Roberts Centre and OGCA was one of their largest clients. I'm sure this was not an easy decision but I'm also sure their Attorneys and Insurance carriers pressed for this decision. The liability became just too great.

OGCA Lost the Wilmington, Ohio Venue

OGCA announced today that Roberts Center has booted us out. If you want to go to an OGCA show you're gonna have to drive to Cleveland.

As much as it pains me to say this; if I were rich, owned a trucking company, a hotel and an exhibition center; I'd be done with any organization that had two innocent bystanders shot at their event on my property. Too much liabilty exposure.

I knew this was going to happen.

I really wished you would have stopped after your first sentence, unfortunately you didn't.
I must admit I'm a little dumber having read your self centered comments.
The information is bad enough without reading how smart you are and what you would do.
Give us a break!

Sorry to hear this here on the S&W Forum...I have been a member of OGCA for many years and I have personally NOT received anything official from OGCA in regards to this...I would think any notification of this would have been sent to ALL OGCA members...

You got my PM with the text of the email?

Yeah, I know the feeling.
I called it but not happy to be right. OGCA lost the Wilmington, Ohio show venue; for good. As of now, gonna have to drive to Cleveland for the meetings/shows.

I can't stand stupid people.

Here is the communication sent out by OGCA this morning:

With sadness I must announce that in light of the discharge of a firearm at our meeting on March 15, 2025, the Roberts Centre has decided that it no long desires to host OGCA’s events. This comes after communicating that OGCA has instituted significant rule changes regarding disabling firearms at our meetings. At this point all scheduled future meetings at the Roberts Centre are hereby cancelled.

This of course is very disappointing. While other options are being reviewed at this time, there is no ability to reschedule a May meeting. OGCA of course will provide refunds to table holders for any tables paid in advance for meetings that do not occur or are rescheduled. Please be patient on that front.

At the May meeting we had the annual OGCA Display show scheduled. That event is being moved to the June meeting, June 21-22, at the IX Center in Cleveland. If you had chosen to display at the May meeting, but do not wish to do so at the June meeting, please contact the OGCA Office and your display cancellation will be addressed.

At this point the annual banquet will not occur in 2025.

What will we do next? We will look for an alternative venue in Southwest Ohio that can accommodate our meetings. As you know finding a venue with sufficient space and parking to meet the needs for our meetings is challenging. Please understand that OGCA desires to have meetings in Southwest Ohio, to continue the tradition of providing meetings in this area as we have done at the Roberts Centre since 2002. OGCA will pursue having meetings in Southwest Ohio diligently. This is a difficult time, but OGCA will adapt and continue.

Sean A. McCarter, President

All because of an extremely careless table-holder and a presumably careless patron. It's a black mark on the gun collecting community.

My heart goes out to the people who were shot. I hope they were not hurt bad, and I hope for their speedy recovery.
