This past Sunday night I was at another concert at the American Music Theatre in Lancaster, PA. The headliners were Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives. This was my second time seeing them in concert there. My experience was enhanced by a much closer seat and my cataract operations that I had since their prior show. I would say their music was a fusion of old rock and roll with old country music. They rocked the joint for a good long time. And to really show his musical talents, the Superlatives took a break and Marty Stuart was out on stage by himself with his mandolin. He told the story about how he was with Lester Flatt's band and they came across the gentleman who wrote the fiddler players anthem, "The Orange Blossom Special." In a solo performance, Marty Stuart then proceeded to play "The Orange Blossom Special" on the mandolin, complete with the riffs on the fiddle that the song is noted for. I used to watch their show on RFD-TV but there is nothing like being there for a live performance.

With the number of concerts I've been going to lately maybe I'm sliding toward the generations looking for experiences.

That would be me also for about the past 10 years.
I saw Marty Stuart about a year ago at a small college venue and like you said, fantastic show. Only way it could have been better would have been if his wife, Connie Smith, was there also. He is also the source of an amazing amount of the history of country and blue grass music, was a behind the scenes consultant for the Ken Burns Country Music documentory a few years ago.
If you get a chance, see Ricky Skaggs.
I'm looking forward to seeing Alison Krauss & Union Station this summer. The "voice of an angel" and a mighty fine fiddler player too!

I think I saw that show. Marty Stuart goes back a long way in country music. I saw him on an episode of the Porter Waggoner Show and Marty Stuart was on the show as a young teenager with the band that was performing on that episode. A lot of country music history was highlighted on the Marty Stuart Show that I used to watch on RFD-TV.
