Not sure what thread to post these in but a lot of these grips are pre-61. Thought I’d share as some of these grips are hard to come by. I won all of these on an online auction. I think I did really good… fingers crossed! K frames on top, N’s on bottom. Top left K is what I believe a Kings Gun Sight Company, and I couldn’t believe my luck that I also got a set of K non-relieved presentation grips and a set of pre-WW2 N magnas. Most are 99% with the worst being 97%. Just have to figure out what to sell and what to keep, but for now just enjoying them all!

Anyone know what kind of wood the non-relieved presentation grips are?

If this needs to be in a different thread let me know, sorry in advance if it does!

Nice! I’ll take the Pre-War N frame Magna’s! 😄
The photos from the auction weren’t great, I was ecstatic when I got all of them. The magnas are 99% plus. I forgot to mention I also got two sets of gen 2 python grips and a set of gen 1 diamondback grips, but who cares about those silly Colts!

Wow you did great !
Thanks! I nearly forgot, in addition to the Colt grips the lot also came with a pre-war K22 Outdoorsman box that’s one of the nicest I’ve seen and a gold 1926 model 44 target box too! I’ll shoot a photo of the 1926 tomorrow.

Great Grips and the O/D Box is outstanding. You hit a lot of my collecting buttons!!!! When you need to turn some of that lumber and cardboard into cash, I'm here for you (especially the two sets on the top row left, the pre-war magnas on the left of the bottom row and the O/D Box)!!!:D What a score.

What a haul!
I have a pre 29 5 screw in 98% condition that i bought many years ago and I shoot it regularly with mid range cast 44 mag.
It did not have the original grips and I looked for YEARS for some original cokes but couldn't find one.
Finally a pristine set of diamond cokes came up.
Yes, I paid too much @ $650 but it made the gun whole and eased by conscience about having such a nice gun that wasn't original.
You have a great haul there.
Color me jealous. :)

Might have seemed like too much at the time but they're now often going for more, I think we saw a set on eBay sell for around $800 recently.

You did do well!! You have a couple grand in grips in that picture.

Just a guess looking at the first grip with the thumbrest they might be Griffen&Howe They look a lot like roper grips without the ribbon normally found.
I was going back and forth too, but I found what appears to be the same grip in the 5th edition on page 59.

Very nice sets of stocks to be sure! The presentation stocks without the relieved area on the left stock panel are made of Goncalo alves.

Bill
I’ve seen a lot of variation in the grain and color of Goncalo Alves, but these are completely different than anything I’ve ever seen. That’s why I questioned it.

The 1926 box is no slouch either. Original parts sheet for the 1950 model, helpful hints, a fact sheet on the 1950 model by Jinks, and I think an original cleaning brush for it. Can anyone confirm if the 44’s came with a large nylon type brush?

I don't know what you paid but you sure did win some premium, hard to find items.
Congratulations.
I don’t care to say I paid $1800 after tax and premium. The lot also came with 6 sets of Herrett style grips, a set of SAA gen 2 eagle motif grips, Colt Scout/Frontier grips, Colt original 1911 grips, a RB set of K combats I gave to a buddy locally, and two Colt New Frontier barrels. Oh and three newer blue cardboard boxes and a 4” presentation box (foam deteriorated) but great shape otherwise)

Looks like $2500-$3000 to me including the boxes and the Colt grips. I think the non-relieved N targets are walnut; I have two sets, one I'm pretty sure is walnut and the other rosewood. The ones in your picture look like my walnut ones. Very nice buy.

They sure don’t look like any Goncalo I’ve ever seen, but there’s so much variation.

Thanks so much! I was a bit nervous at first but once I got everything in hand I knew I made the right choice by bidding them so high.
