New M1 Garand's to hit the market...

I won’t be selling any of my three dozen or so original M1s anytime soon.

Sorry, but MODERN American manufacturing leaves me extremely doubtful about the reliability and quality of new M1 receivers.

You can only capture in a bottle lightning but once.
I dunno, forging followed by modern CNC sounds like the way to go to me.

Years back I went into my LGS to yak, on the wall was an AK with fancy colored wood, listed for 699.00 I grabbed it up, on the way to the register, on the rack were 5 brand new Springfield Armory Garands priced at 999.99 each. Bought them all. All six are still in my safe unfired. I was on the horns of an enema, it was those 6 or, on the counter was a FO BAR for 4499.99. I would have added that as well but I needed to buy that Gucci purse in the case to deflect the wife's comments about bringing home 6 rifles.

To shoot single shots, "sleds" are advisable. Just search for "M1 Garand single shot sled" they are available from several sources, even saw some on eBay.
is there a source for single shot adapter clips for the garand.

The single shot sleds help slow down the speed of the bolt when chambering a round so its not slamming into the receiver.
Not good for the rifle long term.

I bought a Springfield Armory Inc, used but unfired like new condition, about 10 years or so ago. The receiver was allegedly made where M1A’s where receiver are made ( cast from Australia???). Not sure where the barrel was from but all the other parts are marked Springfield Armory (SA) or Winchester (W). It was $1200. I have been very pleased with it. I am not storming Omaha Beach with it or shooting matches at Camp Perry but it suits my needs and it hits steel gongs at 300 yards consistently.

My only gripes, no ranges close to me other than an expensive member only. Now, I've got 300 acres in NM I had a 5 lane pistol, 5 lane rifle out to 250yds professionally built. Worked a deal with construction company where they could dump their dirt in a 12ft high u-shape range, concrete pad with tables, tin roof, camera monitors on each lane to see targets. The two guys watching the property are ret army, access to range, streams for fishing and have trailers with power. But I'll be darned if ima hit nm e try dang time I wanna shoot a rifle.

Given the finite amount of surplus Garands (especially nowadays), and that these should be historically accurate and help to support the CMP, I'll have to give one a serious look when they hit the market.

My impression is the “Heritage Arms LLC” that is partnered with CMP is NOT the same company, Heritage Manufacturing, that makes inexpensive zinc alloy .22 revolvers!
Well, actually it is -- the following is from an NRA Shooting Sports article on the new M1........

"Compared to many other major firearms manufacturers, Heritage Arms is relatively new to the industry, best-known for its line of inexpensive .22 rimfire single-action revolvers based on the Colt Single Action Army design.

“Heritage Arms USA is one of our many partners in Alabama—they are just down the road from the CMP armories and the Talladega Marksmanship Park,” O’Keefe said."

That's a screamin' deal.

I can buy REAL M1 Garands all day for under 2 grand . Not paying that kind of money for a repro .

I could see buying a new M1 to reduce wear and tear on my original CMP ones, if it were decent quality. Not that I shoot the originals that much any more, but parts are getting a bit pricey, and I don't see any sources like the Danish ones on the horizon.
