MM's #1 reminds me of how disappointing I find people's lack of interest in the natural world around them. I ask them to describe the "strange bird" they saw and their eyes glaze over. Or when I'm outside and say "Oh, that's cool, I can hear a _______ " they look at me like I'm nuts. They have totally tuned out birdsong and probably everything else in the environment that isn't someone speaking. When the aliens that seeded this rock with walking protein come to take in the harvest, there's a lot of low hanging fruit to be had before they get to me.
