Help on a 77A pellet rifle

Is there anybody fixing the air guns from the 1970s?
Smith & Wesson 77A air pellet gun.

1) Disassembling starts with removing the butt plate and unscrewing the stock from the receiver using a socket extension.
2) After removing the screws from the right side of the receiver, carefully detach the right panel to prevent springs from flying out.
3) The internal components, including the automatic safety bar and springs, should be removed before taking out the barrel and pump tube.
4) The pump can be disassembled by extracting the set screw at the rear of the barrel, and the valve body becomes accessible by removing the fitting between the barrel and the pump.
5) Short pins must be extracted carefully due to valve tension.

Reassembly follows a reverse process: insert the valve body, secure the pins, reattach the pump tube and barrel, place internal components back, reinstall the springs and automatic safety bar, secure the right panel, screw the stock onto the receiver, and reattach the butt plate.

The **internal components** each serve a function: the pump mechanism compresses air to propel the pellet, the valve body regulates air release, the trigger assembly engages the firing system, and the automatic safety bar prevents accidental firing. Springs and pins ensure smooth operation, the barrel provides accuracy, the receiver houses everything, and the sight system helps with aiming.

Common **issues** include air leaks due to worn seals, trigger malfunctions, weakening pump arms, barrel misalignment, faulty safety mechanisms, and difficulty in pumping. Regular maintenance, seal replacements, and professional servicing can address these concerns.

What's wrong with it? Send photos and a description of the issues. Below is the manual and maybe some additional help. I love the pellet guns, and bb guns. Good luck!

I prefer to strip off the old paint and apply a Cerakote finish for durability and a clean look.

I would carefully pull each seal out, and document where it was with photos, then I would take the seals and gaskets to Bering Hardware, or Ace Hardware and see if they have these parts, or a good autoshop. If I came up short, I would attempt to order it online.

on ebay there are several vendors selling o-ring kits for the 78g and 79g, didn't see any for the 77a though. and for the price shipped, they're cheaper than taking time to track them down locally. there's also seller britishautospecialty that offers upgrade services for the 78g and 79g, could be worth asking if he works on the 77a..
