We would love to see some more photos and a little info on your nice Model 66. Also, I would enjoy a few more photos of that custom case... Do you have the screwdriver that was made for that slot?

Thanks for sharing,

Thanks for the compliments. I don't even remember who made the case. I'll have to do some digging through my records. He did a beautiful job. I will try to get some more pictures of it soon. I will have to make the screwdriver. I'm thinking a slightly hollow ground blade with a buffalo horn handle.
I responded to an ad in a local trading newspaper to somewhere near Charlevoix, Michigan. Met up with a retired sheriff's posse member who was selling a 66-3 that had a brass lanyard ring butt plate added to the grip. The gun appeared well maintained and little used. The asking price was fair and we did the deal. I wanted a "barbecue" gun, so I sent the gun to Michael Gause for 75% coverage engraving. I was thrilled when I got it back so I ordered a Tom Three-Person holster from El Paso Saddlery with floral carving. The grips are from an old piece of walnut I had been saving for many years. Sent the wood to Blu Magnum for their "Skeeter Skelton grips". Just a little bit of paring on the inletting and they fit perfectly. I taught concealed carry at my gun club where I used to live in Greenville, MI for many years and took the gun to class for students to shoot. It's not the most accurate revolver I own (that honor goes to a M-586) but it shoots way better than I can off hand now (I'm 84) and the action was slicked up by Denny Reichert, the retired detective S&W guru, who Massad Ayob praised and who has now passed on. It's a joy to shoot and sees mostly hand loaded .38 Spl rounds
