I have tried all the usual major casters ACME, bayou, ect.

Does anyone know of a company or a friend or a feller that custom makes hard cast gas checked bullets?

I've got my 40S&W well within proper pressures. Just my what I like to call my "hiking load" in my ported G22 is leading really bad.

Im after 180grn 40cal gas checked hard cast flat points...

Ps I've tried to GC what I have and have failed horribly....

Why do you want "hard cast" gas checked bullets? They may likely lead worse than softer bullets. Is your bullet diameter right? If it is, you may be able to get by fine with a plain base bullet of the proper alloy for your load. That is seldom a "hard cast" bullet.

Im After the hard cast for hiking purposes dangerous game black bear, gators Panthers...

The gas check to prevent the leading... I'm pushing 1160 FPS 25shot average within powder recommended load data.

Currently using Acme 180grn powder coated 180grn...

If the fit isn't right (undersize bullet), hard cast can cause worse leading than softer bullets. Again regarding fit, gas checks may or may not prevent leading. Good luck-

Is the bore leaded as well? Good chance the bullet may be too large then. Can the maker of the bullets size them down slightly?
I have a bullet sizing die i can run some and see what they come out to...

Yes interior of barrel is just as bad.

I would like to try and make it work or figure a solution as this loading is incredibly accurate to come out of a Glock.

I appreciate the wisdom so far!

In my study of bullet mold catalogs, I don't remember seeing a gc bullet designed for the 40 S&W. It isn't needed. I'm pushing a 180 gr at 1250 fps from my 10 mm and getting no leading. I use a medium alloy and a good lube.
If your buying bullets, you probably need to go to powder coated. For best accuracy you will probably need to adjust your powder when you do, as you would with any bullet change.

Yes sir I am using powder coated projectiles

You might wish to try the (very excellent) Lehigh 140gr Xtreme Penetrator projectiles or...

Just BITE THE BULLET and $pring for the Buffalo Bore products in 40 S&W for your actual woods carry time?

Cheers!

I have a Glock 35 and I'm getting 1180 FPS with a 180 gr. jacketed bullet. I've had this 35 for many years and never shot a single cast bullet out of it. Only recently have I tried coated bullets and the only powder so far that will stabilize them is Winchester 540 (AKA HS-6). May I ask what powder you're using?

Sure I'm at 8.0 of longshot... my testings below.

40S&W load testing 25 shot average crono and accuracy testing at 15yds 180 Acme lipstick hard cast, 8gr Longshot WIN SPP

Unmodified G22 before mill work on chunk port slide

Low-1143
High-1194
Average-1163

G22 40S&W comp slide variations
"G34-6PORT" FDE slide (BEST FELT RECOIL)
Low-1110
High-1194
Average-1156

G22 40S&W "CHUNK PORT HYBRID"
LOW-1110
HIGH-1174
AVERAGE-1144

Zero signs of over pressure over all 3 slide variations, unfortunately seeing some leading throughout both milled slide variations, leading was nonexistent on factory un touched slide.

OK are you leading the entire length of the barrel or just as the porting starts? I'm guessing the porting is stripping the coating and causing the leading. Normally porting and lead bullets are a no go

Your porting cuts into the barrel and rifling. The bullets are litterally being forced/rubbed against the edge of the hole, under a ot of pressure.

If you had JUST the muzzle brake type porting that would not be an issue

I tried the 8 gr. charge of Longshot with a 180 gr. coated bullet in my Glock 22 and the bullet did stabilize. This is only the second powder I have tried that will actually do that. Thanks for the suggestion! Clays, 231, Green Dot, Blue Dot, 800X and Bullseye did NOT work for me. Have you ever tried any of these powders with your 180 gr. coated bullets? I'm finding that the .40 S&W is very fickle with coated bullets. I will agree that the porting can make things even more problematic. For serious use I will always prefer jacketed bullets with this cartridge.
