Seaking a gas checked 180gr .40cal HC FP

I know this may be a little off the subject here but I thought it may help me in determining if I'm doing the right thing.
A few friends of mine that shoot and hunt with black powder rifles asked me to alter some bullets for them. 50mm, 360 gr, solid lead bullets that they have some problems with when they hunt. They wanted to reduce the weight to 300 gr and make them hollow point. They also asked for me to turn the back side from flat to concave. They thought the concave shape will let the bullet engage the rifling better and therefore spin faster and fly straighter.
I had no problem doing this, but I would like some of you experts to comment.

50 mm! I'll take it to be 50 caliber. Too many unanswered questions. Muzzle loader or cartridge gun? Problems with accuracy or terminal expansion?
The only way to make them spin faster is with a faster twist rifle barrel. If they are using muzzle loaders their bullets need to be soft lead. Both hollow based mini balls and the TC type solid base conicals will not properly expand into the rifling groves unless they are pure lead. And using too much black powder in a load is rarely good for accuracy, especially with shorter barrels and lighter bullets. Remember that the old trapdoor rifles used only 70 grains of black powder to accurately push a 405-500 gr soft lead bullet down range.
