20, 27 or 28?

27 & 28................What's not to like? I really like the looks of the model 20, but will wait and see if a non locking version comes out.

Depends on why I want it. Rarely shot collectors piece? Hard to beat an excellent condition 27. I would prefer either the 3.5 or the 5 inch barrels as I think they look the best, proportionally, on an N frame. For carrying and/or shooting a lot, I'd go with a 4" 28 for carry or a 6" for a range gun. Now, I don't have a 27 right now and I've never had a 20, but I do have this 4" 28 with moose grips by bigmtnman and a carved half flap holster by bamabiker. Since it's the only one of the three I have, I guess that means my choice was the 4" 28.

I've always been a big fan of S&W N-frame revolvers, regardless of caliber. I have quite a few examples in .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44 Special, .44 Magnum, and .45 ACP. Not sure I could pick one model over the others, although the "pre-Models" (.357 Magnums and .44 Magnums) are some of my favorites.

27 vs 28 no difference except the finish and barrel options. 27 has the top strap checkering also along with possibly a RR/WO. Basically depends on your wallet. Can’t go wrong with either choice. The 28 might save you a little anxiety due to its satin finish. The 27’s have that awesome blue finish but, that means any little nick, handling mark shows up easier.
