Foyle's War — Anybody Watch It?

I saw most of it on PBS, catch as catch can, then watched it straight through on Britbox. I would watch again. Honeysuckle Weeks engaged enough of my attention that I looked her up. She photographs very well. Her sister Perdita played Higgins on the lame remake of Magnum, PI. They come from an acting family, and Honeysuckle was a bit of a wild child.
My gf is a BritBox subscriber and LOVES these shows, as do I. She will be very interested in the above!
While my wife and I throughly enjoy all the British crime shows, they do give me pause as to how dangerous a place the UK is portrayed to be……..
Reminds me of a comment by LV Steve in response to this cartoon.
I really enjoy Foyle's War. It gives a very interesting view of the war. The characters and actors were great.
I remember a video about the show with the creator, Anthony Horowitz, where he commented that Michael Kitchen (Foyle) asked for Foyle to have less dialogue. And another comment by someone who said that Kitchen could transmit more about a scene with a raised eyebrow than with pages of dialogue. A superb actor.
And the stories were based on real events, which made it even more compelling.

An excellent series that my wife & I have watched a few times over the years ...we enjoyed it immensely .
If you liked Foyle's War you will likely enjoy Island At War . It's set in the Channel Islands also during WW II ....another well done series.

I'm not sure if this is the interview with Anthony Horowitz that I remember but it tells how he went about creating the show. 11 1/2 mins. I didn't realize that he came up with Christopher Foyle's name after visiting the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. It's been modernized somewhat since I was last there over 20 years ago (they finally put in a computer about then!) but it's an amazing place.

Another Brit show my gf really enjoyed is Slow Horses, with Gary Oldman, Kristin Scott Thomas etc. Contemporary setting. She signed for a trial subscription to Apple TV just to watch it.

Jimmy, try Reacher, if you haven't seen it yet. Lots of action.
I like Foyle's War, and similar shows, because of the slow pace. Kinda soporific, and after I watch for a while, and am on the verge of nodding off, off to bed for me. For me, it's more about the atmosphere than the plot.
I really was enjoying "Foyles War" but then seasons 3 and 4 are "Pay To View" ?

On her first trip to England I took my wife to the small village I lived in as a kid. She joked with my family that she was a little nervous about that visit having watched Midosmer Murders.
