Both of these guns are Model of 1989, and very similar.

Why does it seem the -3 brings 2x the price? I didn't' think barrel length alone would be enough, but maybe I'm just not understanding.

I've found this to be true across several models. Snubbys always seem to be more popular and in turn, carry a higher cost. I'm currently looking for a Model 15 2 inch - and they are leaps and bounds over the 4 inch.

I totally get a 2.5 or 3" gun being more than a 4" or 5", but a 4" to 5" isn't enough of a difference to me to understand. Pretty much well in my eyes, a 4" to about 6.5" should be about the same in price.

And, we even see big differences in 2.5" to 3" guns, but that's more about scarcity. I didn't think there would be a scarcity issue in 4" to 5".
