Hello,

I've been considering the 9mm FPC for awhile. I'm just curious if there's any likelihood S&W might release a new 9mm version/upgrade.

I realize it's a long shot, especially since they've recently released new caliber versions.

Just wanted to see what people think before I buy one. Naturally, if I do, that's when a new one will be announced.

what upgrades would you be looking for?
Honestly, I'm not sure. Upgrades was a bad choice of words. I guess I was trying to see if anyone has heard if a newer version might be on the horizon, since it's been a couple years. I understand nobody has a crystal ball.

I've had some bad luck in the past once I've made a decision to buy (not guns necessarily), to have a newer versions get released.

I have not heard of any changes to the FPC and they just released the FPC in the .22 caliber. All reviews I have seen on them have been good. Can't say if there will be any upgrades to them as it seems like S&W is releasing a new gun every week.

At the moment, the changes I'd like to see would be an AR-style safety switch and an optional minimalist stock with an adjustable length of pull.

I just recently bought the FPC in 9MM and my first range trip was flawless with 250 rounds of 115gr FMJ.
I mounted a Sig Romeo MSR green dot. After sighting in I had no trouble, even with my astigmatism which causes a flaring of the dot, ringing steel inside a 2" circle at 25 yards. This thing is a blast to shoot.
I doubt that S&W would make the changes you mentioned; an AR style safety wouldn't work since the lower part of the receiver is patterned on the M&P pistol. I found no issues using the trigger guard safety it has now.
I suppose they could change to an AR style adjustable butt stock but it would surely eliminate the storage provision it now has for the 23 round magazines.
I'm not a big fan of the charging handle, I think one similar to the one on the Keltec Sub2000 at the 6 o'clock position on the buffer tube would work but then you loose the lock feature for the folding barrel. MCarbo sells an aluminum handle as part of their optic mount that does have a feature that locks the barrel. That places the optic mount on the receiver. I like the optic on the handguard since it remains zeroed with the barrel.

S&W has made some revisions to the FPC 9mm since it was first released.

Originally they had roll pins securing the firing pin and extractor. They changed this to stainless pins that drop in.

They also modified the firing pin. Supposedly some folks had a problem with light strikes and the change fixed it.

MCarbo and TacCom each have a few aftermarket parts available.

Thread about the FPC22

I'm a happy owner of both.
