For the last 6 years,I worked part time at a local gun shop. Because of that, I had affordable access to all of the latest poly framed Micro-9s: Springfield Armory's Hellcat (10/12 rnd), Sig's P365 (10/12 rnd), Glock's 43 (10 rnd), Ruger's Max-9 (10/12 rnd), and S&W's SM&P Shield (7/8 rnd). I carried and shot them all, over the period of the last few years.
Of the whole crop, hands down, I shot the Roger Max-9 best, and it was about as small as any. The Shield was too bad, but for me the Glock 43, and Sig P365 were dismal as far as rapid fire grouping. The Hellcat did have some good days, but had more bad days. All (except the Glock 43) could be carried in a Sticky Holster in the front jeans pocket, though pocket carry is not very comfortable or concealed. ( I have a 10.5 oz Ruger LCP Max .380 (12+1) for pocket carry. Its invisible in the pocket. With that said, all of the above were generally carried in some sort of an OWB pancake style holster, and are very concealable that way.
That brings me to my pet 6906. While only ever so slightly larger than the Max-9 (they fit in the same OWB pancake made for the Max-9), it feels so much more substantial in the hand, and I shoot it twice as well as any of the aforementioned Micro 9s, including the Ruger Max-9. It gives me MUCH more confidence as a defensive weapon. If I was suddenly confronted by a lethal threat, say a knife wielding Goblin in a dark alley, it is absolutely the concealable firearm I would want to use. 13 rounds of Federal 9BPLE 115 grain +P+ would terminate any lethal threat, as they said back in my Army days in the early 1970s, With Extreme Prejudice.
I will admit, that some of this confidence comes from the fact that I have used/carried/shot the 469/669/6906 platform 70-80% of the last 40+ years, since I fired a pre-production sample the S&W rep brought to our PD range in 1982.
