The CS9 is my dream gun! LOL. Unfortunately, totally unobtainable here in Commiefornia.
The 6906 is still VERY relevant today!

After my last range session, I have to admit my Beretta 84FS (13+1) .380 ACP is a close second to the 6906 as far as a go-to carry piece. Its about the same size as the 6906, and carries really nice in an Italian hi-rise pancake I bought for it. They both are equal as far as carrying them.
As far as "shootability" it is softer shooting than the 6906, even with +P loads (240+ ft lbs ME), and is second only to the 6906 as my most accurate pistol. Much like the 6906 for me, a full 14 rounds into the head of a B27 silhouette target at 7 yards rapid fire is easy. To me the edge with the 6906 is the 450 ft lbs ME from the +P+ 9BPLE as opposed to the 240 ft lbs ME of the Atomic +P .380.
I had an original Beretta 84 Base Version (no suffix) for awhile as an off duty weapon in the 80s & 90s, but in had no firing pin safety, no de-cocker, and a 1911 style safety. I eventually traded it away, and recently got the 84FS version, with all the upgrades. Basically a 3/4 size 92FS.

I have to admit feeling more than a bit of nostalgia when I carry the 6906. It brings me back 40 years ago to the 1980s when I was a young stallion on the C.R.U. (plain clothes Crime Reduction Unit) on the PD in the Seattle area. Typically, I had my 469 in a Rodgers shoulder rig, with a double mag pouch and cuff case on the off-side. We were first issued 59s, then later 439s, which I would also have, but I had the 469 in the shoulder rig under my coat.

Since I was one of the Rangemasters and did equipment evaluations, I did a work up on the pre-production 469 the S&W rep gave us. I absolutely loved it! I actually tried to get them to replace out H&K P7s (squeeze cockers) that detectives used. The were an AD waiting to happen (NJ State Police had lots of ADs with them). Never got any traction, on the adoption of the 469.

We issued H&K P7s to our detectives and other plain clothes brass in the 80s. Fine weapon, but.....they are an accidental discharge waiting to happen. NJ State Police issued them for a few years, but dropped them after quite a few ADs, some with injuries, IIRC. When we scrapped them, I bought one, but didn't hang on to it for very long. I tried to get the brass to go to the 469, but it didn't happen.

Had a 469 from 83-89; Grip was like a 2X4.
I got the first 6906 I saw, much better grip IMO; then the first 3913 I saw! still have both! Got a PC Shorty-9 in about 95 off a friend who wanted to go to a .40.
The 3913 and a later 3913NL became my "suit gun" w/ the 7rd flush fit magazine, while the PC "6906" was evenings and weekends, both carried in IWB Milt Sparks Executive Companion holsters. The 69xx guns are all 12+1 but spare mags are mostly 59xx 15rd with +2 adaptors.
That first 3913 got an action job and a full hammer and now rides OWB in a Rusty Sherrick Ultra Hi-Ride holster originally designed for the 80s ASP. My 39xx guns all wear Hogue checkered wood grips.... better feel/palm swell without affecting cancelability.
I stippled a 69xx grip in a fish scale pattern for the PC-9, replaced the adjustable sights with a Novack rear sight. I carry and it a lot, it now rides OWB in a Sherrick Ultra Hi-ride most of the time
As someone mentioned earlier when the Glock 26/27 came out, over the next 3 to 4 years there was a glut of used 3rd Gens in local guns shops many anib....... bought several 6906/6904/3913/3914 and 3913NL s, all IIRC in the $200-250 range, all with.2-4 mags. Even got a second PC Shorty-9 on a straight trade for a 3" 586.
I'm deeply mired in the late 20th Century with my 3rd Gen S&Ws , Sig P-series and Beretta 92s. I tried 3 Glocks over the years but never felt the need to go Polymer and I prefer DA/SA over striker fired in a carry gun.

I get it. While I have a Ruger LCP Max .380 (12+1 +P, and 11 oz empty) for pocket carry when OWB isn't feasible, My 6906 is primary EDC, thouigh occasionally my Beretta 84FS or STAR PD .45 (25 oz, 6 or 7 +1 or WW 230 +P Ranger (Talons w/o black paint) ) when in the woods. My most recent acquisition is a 1911A1 built on an ESSEX mil-spec parked frame.
It was built by my boss at the gunshop, who was a Master at Arms senior chief in the Navy, and armorer when Alemeda NAS closed. They threw out all the drawers cases of GI 1911 parts (because the switch was already made to Beretta M9) from the armory when they closed. He retrieved them from the dumpster. He hand selected and fitted all new USGI parts (including barrel and NOS replacement slide, and hand selected the ESSEX frame for finish match. All nicely fitted and polished inside. The trigger breaks like glass, the slide is smooth, and no rattle. Virtually 100% NOS USGI parts except frame.

I'm very interested in this. My ex-German police P7M8 had a long spongy trigger like a Glock. How did they have ADs with the P7s?

The original P7s (pre-M8) we had, had a very light single action trigger when the grip was squeezed. I believe the M8 and M13 had the trigger reworked to a longer pull in response to the proliferation of ADs in agencies that used them. We had some, but not injuries. I will say the P7s were tack drivers. Despite the self-dirtying gas impingement lock up, they worked well. I my eval of the P7. I went 950+ rounds without maintenance before it locked up. Try Google search of New Jersey State Police HK P7 accidental discharges. They were, at the tinme, the largest user of them.

Brake cleaner or WD work great on the carbon in the P7. It has also been reported that if you hold the trigger down, then equeeze the "cocker," it will fire.

I worked as a domestic Security Contractor on a Homeland Security contract, patrolling Electric infrastructure (dams and power houses) in the California mountains from 2012-2014. Drove around solo in a Jeep Wrangler tacticaled up with an AR15 and my 1911A1 with 8 round mags. Hard to beat a 1911A1 for that purpose...

I have two M6906s. I had spur hammers installed on both. One has a great trigger and the other somewhat heavy trigger.

I like the 6906. I think it makes a great EDC, especially if you train with it. I have one; it's currently wearing a 6904 complete slide (looking for a complete 6904 frame). I also have a Glock 43x. I ran 15 round mags in it when I carried it.
I would have no problem carrying either. A plus for the Glock is that there is massive aftermarket support (Obviously). So adding fiber optic sights and a light was easy. You can't add a light to a 6904/6906, a let down for me as I, personally, prefer lights.
If it matters, I don't currently carry either of these. For me the FN Reflex MRD or CZ P-07 are better options. Especially when equipped with a red dot, tall sights and a weapon light.

Did another range session, this time the 6906 and my Ruger Max-9 and Ruger LCP-Max .380. The 6909 was hands down the winner. The Ruger Max-9 was OK, but still doesn't have the consistent rapid fire accuracy of the 6906. The LCP-Max, well, its a belly gun..... A distant third place. I think Ill use the Max-9 as my pocket pistol, but the 6906 is still EDC king in my book.
