I love unusual and custom grips. A buddy picked this one up at the Tulsa show. I told him if he decided to sell it let me know. Bought it this morning. Pretty avergae 27-2. I suspect the RB in a circle indicates reblue. The grips are unmarked football targets that have been carved.

Just an average 27-2...yeah, sure. If you say so :) I personally think the entire rig, re-blued or not, looks gorgeous.

But isn't there a mark on the bottom left grip? Circle B? How would this refer to a reblued gun if that's what you were talking about? As you might have guessed, I'm quite new to the ins and outs of N-frame revolver minutiae, especially with regards to the various markings and stampings found underneath the grips. I really ought to get my 27-2 out (it's a 6") and pull the grips for a look just to see what's under there. :)

The R on the grip isn’t what I am referring to. That is a mark the grip makers used. There is a RB inside a circle on the grip frame. That indicates Refinish Blue. There are many marks and numbers on some
sw grip frames. Some are assembly marks and insignificant. Some have meaning. N for factory nickel. Early guns that went back will have a repair date stamped on the grip frame.

Congratulations, you have a really nice package there! Never saw a set of stocks like that. I like them. Bob

I guess I am crazy, because if I was talented enough to carve grips like that, I would make sure they were marked in some way to identify me. Shoot, I may even go to the extent of stamping them with my full name, address, telephone number, SS number, and blood type.🤪 Good thing I’m a talentless man because my grips would have to be HUGE just to hold my advertisement.😀

Beauty lies in the eyes of the holder. Tastefully done. I am thinking smooth presentation stock were used as the base, otherwise there would be too much wood missing from the corners where the leaves are.

I agree except I think they were smooth targets. I think presentations have the double relief cut.

Very nice model 27! The grips set the revolver off. Congratulations on your purchase sir!
